Born in 1957 in Richmond, Virginia, John Gamble won the 1982 and 1983 International Powerlifting Federation (IPF) World Championships, finishing third and fifth at the 1982 and 1983 World Hercules, behind Bill Kazmeier. John Gamble then served as the lead strength coach at the University of Virginia for ten years, was named strength coach of the year by the American Strength and Conditioning Association in 1985, strength and conditioning coach for the Miami Dolphins from 1994 to 2005, inducted into the York, Pennsylvania weightlifting Hall of Fame in 1999, and Buffalo Bill from 2006 to 2012.
