"Batman: The Animated Series" actor Kevin Conroy has died

Warner Bros. confirmed that actor Kevin Conroy, best known for voicing Batman in various animated television shows, feature films and video games, has died at the age of 66.

Conroy first played Bruce Wayne and his superhero alter ego in Batman: The Animated Series, which aired May 1992. His performances and the series have proven to be so popular among fans that over the years he has appeared in various animated TV shows and movies, as well as in video games including Arkham Knight and Arkham City. He recently appeared in a classic role in the 2019 Batwoman episode.

"Kevin isn't just an actor I've had the privilege of acting and directing — he's a good friend for 30 years, and his kindness and generosity know no boundaries," casting and dialogue director Andrea Romano told The Hollywood Reporter. "Kevin's warm heart, joyful deep laughter and pure love of life will always be with me.

Mark Hamill, who has repeatedly played the Joker opposite Conroy, also paid tribute to The Hollywood Reporter in a statement.

"Kevin is perfect," Hamill said. "He's one of my favorite people on the planet and I love him like a brother. He genuinely cares about the people around him – everything he does reflects his decency. Every time I see him or talk to him, I lift my spirits .

Earlier (November 11), Diane Pershing, who played DC villain Poison Ivy with Conroy in films such as "Batman: The Animated Series," made the announcement on her personal Facebook page.
