On the evening of November 5, the TV series "The Great Game" premiered in a single episode of Dragon TV and Zhejiang Satellite TV. The play is written by the well-known screenwriter Mr. Mason Zhou. For the TV series works of old screenwriters, it is impossible to peek into the story through only one or two episodes of the plot. I can only briefly talk about my opinion, and I will continue to follow the drama in the next few days, updating my opinion in real time. Therefore, this drama review article has inaccuracies and is willing to accept criticism from everyone.

First of all, the narrative of this TV series is leisurely, and the plot unfolds, which takes at least two or three days, that is, three or five episodes. "In the Name of the People", written by Mason Zhou, belongs to a relatively unique TV series, and at the beginning, it is a more concentrated contradiction and conflict. Such a TV series, of course, is very good-looking. However, this kind of creative method of centralized treatment of contradictions is prone to too heavy traces of commercial dramas. This time, "The Great Game", written by Zhou Mason, is not in a hurry and adopts an eloquent way.

In this way, there are advantages and disadvantages. The bad side is that the opening episodes of the plot, there are no important contradictions and conflicts, it is easy to watch less, so that some viewers feel that it is not exciting enough, and then cause the play to lose a lot of drama-chasing audiences in the opening few episodes. On the bright side, this way of telling is closer to the truth, rather than the technical flow of commercial dramas, close to the truth, in order to highlight the core of the story, so as not to be diluted by the creation technology of the emotional connotation of the story. Of course, the old screenwriter Mason Zhou knows how to start the game to look good, but this time in "The Great Game", he did not use the method of clashing at the beginning, which is the screenwriter's own ingenuity.

Secondly, this TV series is about the tone. In fact, many old screenwriters' TV scripts, if you only read the script, you will find their strong sense of tone. Why is this so? Because the old screenwriter has formed a language stereotype after so many years of writing. These language stereotypes themselves have a tone. Moreover, the old screenwriters will take the accented lines as the advanced, the more accented, the more advanced.

This sense of tone at the level of lines, of course, should also be viewed in two. My personal opinion is that low-level film and television drama works have no style in the lines, and they are soft and nagging. Many fantasy dramas and traffic dramas look like this. TV series such as "The Great Game" and "Under the Gate of Zhengyang" have a sense of tone, and the "words are round" in the creation of lines, which is spontaneous by the screenwriter. However, the top TV series are de-accented, turning the accent into no accent. The tone of the current script level of "The Great Game" belongs to the deliberate work of the screenwriter Mason Zhou, seeking a sense of seniority.

Then, it's time to talk about the actors' performances. In the plot content of the first episode, the one who makes the audience most comfortable should be Qian Jianguo played by Du Yuan. This old comrade, wholeheartedly for Beiji, this fist heart, itself is enough to move the audience. And the role presented by the old actor Du Yuan brings out the sense of tone of the character. Especially in the processing of lines, Du Yuan pursued the expression of this sense of tone, which is exactly in line with the style pursued by the screenwriter Zhou Maison.

In terms of other supporting actors, the villain role presented by the period teacher is also in tone. And this tone is exactly the Facebook character that the script needs. Again, don't think that "Facebook" is a bad word, in many film and television dramas, these Facebook characters are very needed, and at the same time, some actors with Facebook presentation ability are needed. Because the script itself has a sense of tone, it just moderates the tone of Du Yuan, Period and others, so these characters are very outstanding.

And returning to Qin Hao's performance, it may make some audiences feel not so comfortable. Qin Hao's own performance style is to de-accentuate, strive to seek a real person's living state, and perform the role in the most ordinary way. This kind of de-accented self-performance cognition makes Qin Hao relatively difficult when controlling the script role written by Mason Zhou. The more Qin Hao's de-accented performance is advanced, the more difficult the temperament presented by the character will be. And many toned lines, Qin Hao's performance, can not come out in momentum.

For example, the old leader played by Du Yuan persuaded the male protagonist played by Qin Hao to become the director of the North Machine, and these exhortatory lines of the old leader were very eloquent. And the next day, when the male protagonist held a meeting for everyone in the factory, he relayed these words, and the momentum could not keep up. When the editor dealt with this scene, he could only mix Qin Hao's speech and Du Yuan's speech together. This is the de-accented performance, and when you encounter a script with a tone, there will inevitably be a small embarrassment. But we can't just assume that script writing has a high-level tone, or that there is no high-level tone. This is something that needs to be watched dialectically.

The way the actors perform also needs to be watched dialectically. I personally tend to think that the current script situation of "The Great Game" is not suitable for Qin Hao's more personal performance method. Qin Hao's performance may shape characters in some works with stronger individualistic tendencies, and it has some advantages. In works with a strong collectivist temperament such as the revitalization of old enterprises, Qin Hao's performance is easy to lose the momentum of the role.
