A Canadian couple drove through a country road last month when they were caught by a mysterious figure on the side of the road. The man stopped the car to check further and was shocked to find that it was a "lynx" that was rarely witnessed, and there were 4 kittens behind him. The rare encounter shocked him extraordinarily.
According to The Dodo, Sam Griffiths was driving in Newfoundland one day when he saw a creature crossing the road in front of him and quickly disappeared into the bush. Griffith decided to stop and take a closer look, when a "cat" suddenly jumped out of the grass, followed by 4 kittens. Griffith recognized at a glance that these were not ordinary cats but lynxes, "I was shocked because I knew how rare this was".
Griffith said he had lived in the forest all his life, and had seen at most two or three lynxes so far, and only one of them acted alone. This rare time he saw a group of lynx in collective action, which made him quite excited, "It was a magical experience".
Since lynx almost avoid contact with humans, such sightings are not common. The National Wildlife Federation has described lynx as "like a gray ghost of the North," which shows that the experience of encountering a group of lynx is invaluable.
