Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie's former home Coast mansion sold: $45 million!

Brad Pitt recently bought a unique house in Carmel, California, for $40 million, but the place isn't the design enthusiast's first foray into seaside real estate.

In the 2000s, Pitt owned a mid-century Malibu house near Encinal Bluffs, where he lived with Angelina Jolie for a while. The house is very angular and sits on top of a dangerously steep hill that juts out from the edge of a cliff, a bit like a house from the famous movie North by Northwest.

In late 2011, Pitt sold the modernist-style property to Alan DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi, although the couple held it for only about six months before transferring it to Victoria Jackson, a skincare entrepreneur and one of De Generes' closest friends. Jackson, in his 60s, is a longtime resident of Los Angeles and a pioneer in business information.

Malibu's price has soared over the past decade. Although Encinal Bluffs' home was never listed on the open market, records show Jackson had just sold the property for $45 million, more than double the $13 million she originally paid DeGeneres in 2012.

The new homeowners are fashion moguls Jens and Emma Grede, co-founders of Kim Kardashian's shapewear line Skims, CEO and founder of Kohler Kardashian's Good American denim brand.

Jackson has made some sort of makeover over the property over the past two years. Pete has made his own makeover of the place, with a glass structure with bamboo floors, an outdoor fireplace and a stainless steel kitchen with a walk-in refrigerator. Other known amenities include a bike path swimming pool, a full-size tennis court, covered parking for three cars, grassy lawns, and a private staircase to the beach.

The house offers four bedrooms and four bathrooms in approximately 4,000 square feet of living space. Mature trees provide a dense canopy for most of the estate, and a large driveway gate protects the house.

The Gredes also own a $24 million property in Los Angeles in a prime location in Bel Air, originally built in the 2030s by renowned architect Paul R. Williams.
