Liu Siqi was originally the daughter of the martyr Liu Qianchu, and in 1931, Liu Qianchu was unfortunately brutally killed by the Kuomintang in Jinan. Later, Liu Siqi followed his mother Zhang Wenqiu, lived with his stepfather Chen Zhenya, and in 1938, came to Yan'an.
In Yan'an, Liu Siqi soon became a small regular visitor to Mao Zedong's family as a daughter of Gan, while Mao Anying was studying in the Soviet Union thousands of miles away. Eight years later, in 1946, Mao Anying ended his study career in Moscow and returned to Yan'an.

At the same time, 16-year-old Liu Siqi and his mother had just finished six years of life behind bars, returned to Yan'an, where they had been separated for a long time, and met Mao Zedong again. It turned out that in 1939, Liu Siqi had originally followed his parents out of Yan'an and went to the Soviet Union, but when he left Xinjiang, the family was arrested by the anti-communist and anti-Soviet Sheng Shicai, the stepfather Chen Zhenya was killed, and Liu Siqi and his mother Zhang Wenqiu were imprisoned together.
After the victory of the War of Resistance Against Japan, after negotiations between the CCP representatives and the Kuomintang, more than 130 revolutionaries imprisoned in Xinjiang prisons were finally released in June 1946 and returned to Yan'an. It was in Yan'an that 16-year-old Liu Siqi met 24-year-old Mao Anying for the first time.
