Principal Zhang thought it was inappropriate and decided to move west to Guiyang. In the winter of 1944, the "Qiannan Incident" brought the Japanese army to Dushan County, Guizhou, so the Xiangya Medical College had to move to Chongqing. After the victory of the Anti-Japanese War, in July 1947, the school moved back to Changsha, Hunan Province, and Zhang Xiaoqian remained the dean of Xiangya Medical College until 1948. Under extremely difficult conditions, he retained and developed Xiangya, which was not easy and rare.
