Colugo, also known as the Malaysian Shrew, the Filipino Shrew, and the Cat Monkey (scientific name: Cynocephalus volans) is the only animal in the genus Shrew, the largest gliding mammal, which is called kagwang in Filipino. Shrews generally weigh 1 to 1.7 kg and are 35 to 45 cm long. The head is wide, the ears are small, and the eyes are large. Perched on trees, the paws are able to crawl and glide rapidly between trees. Its tail is up to 30 cm long. It inhabits tropical woods, hangs upside down from trees during the day, is nocturnal, and feeds on young leaves and fruits.
