In the 14th century, Singapore was already inhabited by Chinese, and the Chinese were one of the earliest inhabitants and the largest pioneers. In the 19th century, Singapore became a British colony, and Singapore became the world's major rubber export and processing base. After the end of World War II, the people of Singapore also demanded independence. In 1959, the first government of the Autonomous States of Singapore was sworn in, and Lee Kuan Yew became Singapore's first prime minister.

On 3 January 1961, before the Tunku proposed the Plan for the Consolidation of the Five States, the Singapore People's Action Party issued a statement entitled "Our Party's Political Objectives". "The merger of Singapore and Malaysia is inevitable, it is our current task, but this merger should include a larger political combination of Sarawak, Brunei and Pak Po," the statement said. Lee Kuan Yew is a very capable leader, Singapore is a port city, under the domination of the British, the economic strength is very good, Malaysia even demanded that Singapore hand over a lot of taxes, which Lee Kuan Yew could not accept. What he could not accept even more was the brutal intervention and orders of the Malaysian Tunku against him. The then MCA President, Tan Suk-shin, once said That Lee Kuan Yew wanted to replace MCA's position in the alliance with the DAP.

After Singapore joined the Federation of Malaysia, the proportion of Chinese Malaysians in Malaysia was basically more than half, and in the series of elections that followed, the Chinese elections were all won. This led the Tunku to believe that Malaysia could become a Chinese-dominated country, which he could not accept. Mahathir once said: "In the political field, it is controlled by Malays, and most of the senior positions such as prime minister and chief minister are held by Malays." If these positions were held by the Chinese, then the Chinese controlled not only the economy, but also the political sphere. So where is the Malay share? "The Chinese economy within Malaysia itself has become dominant, if you add the Singaporean Chinese, how can you pay it back?"

Under such a premise, the Tunku met overnight, and the UMNO-led parliament set aside Lee Kuan Yew and convened a parliament. On 9 August 1965, the Malay Parliament expelled Singapore from Malaysia by 126 votes to 0.
Hearing this news, Lee Kuan Yew roared like five thunderbolts. On the same day, Lee Kuan Yew held a press conference to announce the incident. He said: "The world is like the sea, and in the sea the big fish can survive." But he cried bitterly after he finished speaking. Because Singapore, the land of bullets, has become a rootless water, no hinterland, and even fresh water can not be self-sufficient, this is a very real situation.

But decades later, no one expected that Singapore, with a population of 5.6 million, created a GDP of 305.7 billion US dollars, and became a developed country. Malaysia, on the other hand, is only $309.8 billion at 330,000 square kilometers, making it a developing country. After the failure of the singapore-Malaysia alliance, Malaysia has lost a lot. The departure of countless capable Chinese from Singapore and other countries is equivalent to Malaysia destroying its own treasure trove of talent.
