Lavigne Lavigne (born September 27, 1984 in Belleville, Ontario, Canada) is a Canadian singer-songwriter. Lavigne began singing at the age of 2. With the support of her parents, she learned how to play multiple instruments from an early age. At the age of 14, she began performing at county fairs, cover songs by country artists such as Garth Brooks and Shania Towne. In 1999, she won a radio competition with Shania at the Ottawa Corporate Centre. Later that year, she was discovered by her first manager, Cliff Fabric
In 2002, 17-year-old Lavigne released her hugely successful debut album, Let Go. Her second album, Under My Skin, was released in 2004. Lavigne's third album will be released in 2007, and the lead single "Girlfriend" will top the Billboard 200 chart.
In addition to music, Lavigne also ventured into the acting world, dubbing Heather in the 2006 animated film Over the Hedges and making her first screen role in Fast Food Nation. Lavigne also has a clothing line, Abbey Dawn, and a perfume line that includes Black Star, Forbidden Rose, and Wild Rose.
