Just ask you when you traveled in Europe, did you meet the "elves"?

Wouldn't it feel a little ridiculous if I said I met one while traveling in Denmark?

After all, the "species" of elves first appeared in the Norse mythological system. They are incomparably beautiful and usually inhabit deep in the forest; They all have slightly longer pointed ears , hold bows and arrows , blonde hair and blue eyes , and are similar in size to humans.

Myths and legends can't be taken seriously, so now if you see elves, it's all in the category of Cosplay.

It is precisely because the elves in the mythological system are all very beautiful, so in the field of cosplay, if you have to be more realistic, then if you do not have the appearance that can be played, do not have the figure of the wow, generally will not dress up in the direction of the elves (Figures 1, 2, 3).

It is said that when I was traveling by car in the Faroe Islands, which belongs to Denmark, I came around the ancient village near its capital, Thors Harbour, when I came across the scene in Figure 4.

At that moment, I was a little confused - could it be that I really met the elf?

Because this village is close to the sea, it is very old, and it is very pristine; Coupled with the fact that the houses in the Faroe Islands villages are not only unique (Fig. 5-7), but also have a fantastic fairy tale color, which is why I have such a sense of substitution.

Slowly walking in the direction of the "little elf", I couldn't help but laugh.

It turned out to be a very young girl in the village, wearing her beloved princess dress, running to play on the grass by the creek.

Well, she really looks like a "pixie"!

With the consent of the little girl's mother, I took two pictures of her (Figures 8 and 9).

Figure 10 is the house opposite the little girl's home, this grass-roofed house is one of the symbols of the Faroe Islands.

The grass-roofed house looks not only very simple, but also very original, it is actually an architectural system that the people on the island have slowly solidified to adapt to the unique climate of the island.

The Faroe Islands have a cold climate, almost 300 days a year, 365 days a year, and it is either raining or windy.

Such a grass-roofed house not only helps to keep warm, but also helps to achieve "windproof sand fixation" on the roof.

It's easy to do – it's about laying a layer of planting soil on the roof and sprinkling it with wild grass seeds.

It's also simple to maintain – there are only more than 50,000 people on the Faroe Islands, but more than 80,000 sheep; So the way to maintain the roof is to put the sheep on the roof and let them "trim" the turf on the roof with their mouths.

In my opinion, this belongs to both "survival of the fittest" and "what exists is reasonable.".

It is necessary to briefly talk about the Faroe Islands from the perspective of travel – in fact, three sentences are clear.

First sentence: The Faroe Islands have been voted "the best travel island in the world".

Second sentence: The official tourism slogan of the Faroe Islands is: "Unexplored nature, untold stories, untamed ambitions" – none of these three points are exaggerated in Lao Fei's view.

Third sentence: The Faroe Islands are definitely a photographer's paradise.

There is also one hot knowledge about the Faroe Islands, as well as four cold facts.

Let's start with hot-button knowledge – the inhabitants of the Faroe Islands have evolved into a collective whaling behavior since ancient times when crops were scarce and relying on marine fish to survive.

Collective whaling takes place during the summer months, with dozens of fishing boats forming an arc behind the giant whale swarm, then stirring up waves and bubbles to drive the whales to the established bay shoals, where they are slaughtered on the spot by fishermen with metal fish knives on the shore.

During the slaughter, whale blood stains the entire bay red, because the images that are passed out are extremely bloody, which has sparked protests from animal protectors around the world.

Let's talk about cold knowledge.

First, the Luo Islands are not big, but it has replaced Norway and quietly become China's largest salmon importer!

Second, the Legislative Assembly of parliament in the Faroe Islands, dating back to the Viking Age, is generally considered to be the oldest congressional organization in the world.

Third, there are only three traffic lights on the entire faroe island, and all of them are in the capital, Thors Harbour (maybe a little more now).

Fourth, there are no prisons in the Faroe Islands, and convicted prisoners are sent to Danish prisons to serve their sentences.

There is also a very popular bird called the puffin on the Faroe Islands, which looks stupid and cute because the fat one does not pay attention to weight loss.

However, puffins maintain such fat bodies to keep themselves out of the cold.

So in order to prey on survival, it flaps its wings many times per minute when it flies...

Of course, it can also dive and is a good fisherman.

Importantly, puffins are not only family-oriented, but also strictly "monogamous".

Its English name is Puffin, and it is the "elf" in the waters of the Faroe Islands.

Because it also has a name, called the good bird.
