On August 31, local time, it was reported that turkey's mardin and Hakkari provinces decided to ban rallies, demonstrations and news releases for 15 days. The governors of the two provinces issued statements giving reasons for the decision.

The governor of Turkey's Mardin province said in a statement that non-governmental organizations, other entities and legal entities organize activities in shopping malls, public service places, near some institutions, public areas and parks where the public is concentrated. From a safety perspective, these activities are not good for both the organizers and those around them. The statement noted that, in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Assembly and Demonstration Act and the Provincial Administrative Law, permission is required to organize all kinds of actions and activities.

In an application submitted to the Mardin Provincial and Municipal Office 2 working days ago, persons and their vehicles who organize and support such activities as public and private meetings, processions, press releases, hunger strikes, sit-ins, stalls, signatures, tents and distribution of leaflets, etc., are prohibited from entering the Mardin Province, except for activities deemed appropriate by the civil authorities, in accordance with articles 11/C of the Provincial Administrative Law No. 5442, from 0:0 on 1 September, in accordance with articles 7 and 17 of the Law on Assemblies and Demonstrations From 1 to 15 September at 24:00, the province of Mardin prohibits activities of this nature. Law enforcement will monitor and record and videotape meetings and events that may violate the law and disrupt the environment of peace and security. Those who do not comply with the decision and continue to violate it after warning will be considered illegal assemblies and demonstrations, and the authorities will take necessary action in accordance with the Assembly and Demonstration Act No. 2911 and other relevant laws.

The provincial office of Hakali Province, Turkey, said in a statement that some measures were taken to safeguard the institutions of the republic, the integrity of the country and the nation, the prevention of crime, the protection of the rights and freedoms of the public, the prevention of the spread of the new crown virus, the prevention of possible provocations and social incidents, and the prohibition of press releases, demonstrations, hunger strikes, sit-ins and other activities for 15 days.
