Grand Vintage Malt 1998
Glenmorangie, a famous factory in the Scottish Highlands, introduced Grand Vintage Malt 1998 in its Grand Vintage Malt series.
Distilled in 1998, bottled in 2022, aged 23 years, 43% ABV by alcohol, 700 ml in volume and priced at $900.
The biggest feature of the wine is that some distilleries have first aged the wine in new charred oak casks, mixed with the first Bourbon barrel of matured liquor, and finally finished with The Oloroso sherry barrel. According to the introduction, the wine has toffee, ripe pear, plum and roasted apple aromas, as well as a soft oak flavor, the taste is full of fruit, chocolate, raisins and figs, the aftertaste is sweet almonds, leather and dates.
Dr Bill Lumden, Director of Whisky Creation, said: "This 1998 vintage, the first experimental product used was a brand new burnt oak barrel, which gives this limited edition a wonderful spicy scent and amber luster. ”
