Cairo, 14 Aug (Xinhua) -- Egypt's Ministry of Health said on 14 August that a fire broke out at a religious site in Giza Province, adjacent to the Egyptian capital Cairo, on the same day, causing at least 41 deaths and 12 injuries.
Egypt's Ministry of Health issued a statement saying the fire took place at the Abu Sifhan Church in the Imbabai district of Giza province. After the fire, 37 ambulances rushed to the scene to carry out rescue, and the number of casualties is still being counted. Egypt's Interior Ministry issued a statement saying that, according to preliminary investigations, the fire was caused by electrical failures inside the church.

The Egyptian presidential palace issued a statement on the same day saying that after the fire, President Sisi called the head of the Coptic Orthodox Church in Egypt to express condolences to the victims.
