How do you manage your goldfish during high temperatures? Recently, the local temperature has continued to rise, and even sounded the red alarm of high temperature, and the water temperature has reached thirty-five degrees, here I would like to talk about some of my own practices for your reference.
The first is shading, most of my fish tank is placed in and around the yard, because it is a sun room, and the temperature is close to 45 degrees after the sun shines. Direct sunlight causes the water temperature to reach even 37 degrees, and the water is warm to the touch. For this reason, I made my own sun blinds to prevent direct sunlight. After the temperature was 35 degrees, the sun blinds have not been removed.
The second is physical cooling, I installed a fan around the tank to strengthen ventilation, and people will be more comfortable when observing fish. Aquarists who have a small tank at home can also use a Coke bottle with water to freeze, and after freezing, the floating tank slowly melts and cools down.
The third is to strengthen the water exchange, during the high temperature period I significantly increased the frequency of water change, from the previous one week to change, each time half of the frequency changed to the current two to three days a change, each time half. Because there are more cylinders and most of them are more than one meter, I don't have enough places to trap water, so I choose to change tap water when the water temperature is low in the morning and evening. Reduce some of the water temperature by changing the water and increase the amount of dissolved oxygen in the water. And in each cylinder to increase the air head, increase dissolved oxygen.
The fourth is to reduce feeding, the growth rate of fish with too high water temperature is also correspondingly slowed down, the activity and amount of food will also be reduced, if it is still normal feeding, it is easy to cause fish food to eat unclean, bad water after dissolving, causing a vicious circle of fish disease, I will now feed a small amount of food at 6 or 7 o'clock in the morning when the temperature is relatively low, to ensure that the fish can eat in a short time, and maintain the activity of the fish.
In the summer, I still prefer to raise fish in clear water, a better management, when there is a slight damage to the surface of the fish, it can be found and treated in time. The two main ones are also not prone to burn tail injuries. If the water temperature is too high, the fish appears fin tail congestion, waterline inflammation, fish tail ulceration. Slightly more severe ones can also be isolated and treated by applying red potion, iodine, or soaked yellow powder.
