Idris Elba's unexpected return proves that no one is really leaving the MCU, and this is the first time the actor has mentioned this.
Idris Elba's era as Heimdall in the Marvel Cinematic Universe seems to have ended in Avengers: Infinity War. Despite the character's death at the hands of Thanos, Heimdall made a surprise return to the screen in this year's Thor: Love and Thunder, when he met Natalie Portman's Jane Foster in Valhalla. Now, for the first time in an interview with Collider, Elba spoke about his appearance and joked that you never know what will happen to the character in the future. He said.
"Almost all of his talents have been tapped out in one way or another. You know, he's watching. But he was a pretty good fighter. We also see him as a warrior with immortal powers around him, and that's going to be something we haven't really explored, so I think it might be interesting. Hey, listen, you know, the world of wonders is constantly expanding. You never know. ”
While Elba isn't the only star to see his character come back from the dead, the constant reinterpretation of death in Thor has become an ongoing theme, but it's been elevated to a new level: love and thunder. Over the course of the film, with the return of Heimdall, Koge is briefly destroyed in a battle with Zeus, but it is revealed that as long as his mouth remains intact, his species seems to have grown back into a whole new body, and Zeus himself appears to have died at Thor's men, only to return to another post-film scene with a wound.
Thor: Love and Thunder don't reach their goals a lot of the time
While Thor struggled a bit in his first two solo films, Thor: Ragnarok is a resounding companion film that pairs Thor with Bruce Banner/Hulk to produce amazing comedic effects, and it looks like Thor's fate has been reversed. After the trauma in Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, Thor: Love and Thunder carried a lot of expectations, but it couldn't be achieved, and in trying to include everything, it ended up feeling like a patchwork movie quilt.
Screenwriter Jennifer Katin Robinson previously revealed that director Tyckey Vittiti really wanted to try to balance the various characters that appeared in the film. She said:
"All of this is in line with the spirit of the Teka Vittiti School of Screenwriting and really hope it feels fully inclusive, allowing each character to shine and subvert it in unexpected ways." Sometimes Val and Jane would look at Thor, especially as he stormed out of Town Hall and walked in. "What are you doing?" Later, Jane would have such moments. It's a good opportunity to give each character a comedic space without letting the character be a laughingstock. That's where Tyca does a great job.
