Opposite the Hualien base, there is news that four of the latest F-16V fighters were dispatched, carrying air-launched Harpoon anti-ship missiles. The F-16V fighter jets now allegedly deployed at Hualien Air Base have been mounted with AIM-120 advanced medium-range missiles and short-range Sidewinder missiles. There are even several F-16V fighters, each carrying two air-launched AGM-84 Harpoon missiles and an ALQ-184 electric warfare pod, as well as air-to-air missiles.
The essence of Hualien Airport and even the entire Taiwan Air Force is concentrated in the nearby Jiashan Cave Depot. From 1985 to 1993, the Jiashan Cave Reservoir took nine years to complete, that is, to dig a hole in the mountain. As soon as there is a sign of war, 250 fighters are hidden in the depths of the Jiashan Cave Reservoir. Moreover, the cave gate is not directly into the mountain, the cave gate is opened on the side of the cave entrance bunker, and the fighter must turn 2 90-degree bends to enter the interior to prevent direct attack by bombs.
At the same time, Jiashan Cave Warehouse is also a standby fighter command center, a communications center and the location of the largest ammunition and logistics reserve warehouse in Taiwan.
Despite the strategic location of the Jiashan base built opposite, it is worth noting that in the 1990s, when there was a lack of precision-guided weapons, such tactics could indeed evade missile strikes. However, the location and coordinates of the opening can now be clearly seen on satellite maps. Secondly, with the development and service of precision-guided weapons and powerful ground-penetrating bombs, Jiashan Cave Depot has become a dead target.
