Australian mineral operators announced on July 27 that miners had found a rare pure pink diamond in Angola, believed to be the world's largest pink diamond found in the past 300 years. The previous pink diamond auction price reached more than 70 million US dollars, and industry analysts analyzed that the diamond may be sold at a record sky-high price.

A 170 ct pink diamond was found in Angola

According to Agence France-Presse, Australia's Lukapa Diamond Company said in a statement to investors that a 170-carat pink diamond was found in the Lulo Mine in the northeastern part of Angola, which is rich in diamond resources, named "Lulo Rose", which is the largest pink diamond found so far.

Pink diamonds have long been regarded as treasures by experts, and only about 10% of the pink diamonds mined worldwide can be called rare pink diamonds. The diamond discovered this time is type IIa, one of the rarest and purest natural diamonds.

This pink diamond was named "Lulo Rose"

The Lulo Mine is operated by the Australian Lukapa Diamond Company, with the Government of Angola as a partner of the mine. Diamantino Azevedo, Minister of Mineral Resources of Angola, said: "This record-breaking and spectacular pink diamond found in Lulo will continue to demonstrate Angola's importance on the world stage. ”

The diamond will be auctioned in an international tender, and industry insiders are predicting that it could be sold at a staggering record price.

The sale price of this diamond may be another record

"Lulo Rose" must be cut and polished to realize its true value. In the process, a diamond may lose 50 percent less weight, but similar pink diamonds have previously sold at record prices.

In 2017, a 59.6 ct pink diamond called the Pink Star sold for $71.2 million (about 481.2 million yuan) at an auction in Hong Kong. As of now, it is still the most expensive diamond ever sold.
