Guest friend's home - European "Pakistan Railway" Serbia

author:thatRyan

This summer finally began my first summer of studying abroad, and I was invited to visit my classmates, this classmate I met at an event, his name is Kris, he is very interested in Chinese culture, especially China's e-commerce industry, and because of this, we often discuss the story of Made in China.

Because we are all in Hungary, it is Serbia for us to cross the southern border, and I am very excited because this is also the first time I have seen the so-called "border", which is often heard in the news about illegal immigrants and refugees. Half an hour from Szeged to the border between Hungary and Serbia, Chinese passports are visa-free in Serbia, and when the border police looked at me, they said "Chinese!" "It is also a moment of pride that it is precisely because of the strength of the mainland and the win-win cooperation with friends that we can enjoy this treatment abroad." Not only is it visa-free, but China's driver's license can also be used directly in Serbia.

My friend's family was in a village in northern Serbia, his family were farmers, and walking on the country lanes really had the feeling of me going back to my grandmother's house. Going to Kris's grandfather's house at night, the intimacy of my grandparents seeing their grandchildren coming home also made me miss my family very much. Grandpa was a "pigeon walker" winner with his trophies all over the room, and I was hearing about this for the first time. Although it was not the first time to be a guest in a foreign family, it was still quite nervous, and we were prepared a super sumptuous dinner in the evening, I really want to say that this is the most sumptuous I have ever eaten in the past year (it was good to be a guest at a Hungarian brother's house last month, but this time I had the feeling of returning to my grandparents' house)

Because none of my friend's family members spoke English, Kris played a translator more often, and we spent the whole day with Kris, we were all business students, and we really couldn't talk enough when it came to some business topics.

Kris also had a lot of myna in his family, who were said to have been raised to sell for money, and his father was a farmer with a very Yugoslav-looking man, which reminded me of the officials in the history textbooks who talked about the Yugoslav period.

The next day, Kris and I went to Subotica, the third largest city in Serbia, which made me feel like a very small Eastern European town, and also a feeling of entering the county town at home. As a guest, I couldn't just enjoy the hospitality, I also invited two friends to the most famous local restaurant for lunch, and in the afternoon it was our swimming trip, although I really didn't want to do aerobic exercise (afraid of losing muscles), but it was difficult to be warm...

I'm not really a tourist, and it makes more sense for me to go out and see so that I can learn and learn new things than to take photos and post them on social media. It was also through spending time with Kris that I was deeply exposed to the kindness and enthusiasm of the Serbs, perhaps living in the village as a farmer, which made me feel a kind of simple enthusiasm and kindness that I had never felt before, a feeling reminiscent of my time in my grandmother's village when I was a child, and then there was no more...

There is also an episode where Kris and I share that when we go back to Hungary he is going to Turkey with his girlfriend, his girlfriend is Russian, so he wants to go to Turkey alone, his plan is to go from Hungary to Serbia to Bulgaria, and finally to Istanbul, all the way to hitch up (give a thumbs up on the side of the road to hitch up) I think this way is particularly novel, he told me that this way can save money and meet a lot of interesting people, which makes me yearn and look forward to it too much. The realization of the dream was also very sudden, on our way back to Hungary, because we chose a small border crossing, this small border crossing The Hungarian police saw me as Chinese, they only dealt with Serbs crossing the border, so they sent me back to let me go to the big border crossing, so we didn't have a car to go back, hitchup's dream was realized so quickly.

We got hitch to a driver, Boris, and I still remember that Kris was on the road apologetically saying that it made me feel bad about the trip, but I was really excited, for me this trip really made me experience so many different, super excited!
