Taiwan has been painstakingly operating for many years, and the amphibious landing operation is far from being as simple as imagined

For many years, the Chinese mainland has been actively striving for peaceful reunification between the two sides of the strait in order to reduce the cost of realizing the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. However, instead of buying it, the Taiwan authorities have frequently colluded with foreign forces and are determined to "seek independence by force and resist reunification by force."

If we continue to develop according to the current trend, I am afraid that the hope of peaceful reunification will become more and more dim. When the dawn of peace is completely extinguished, the mainland side can only resort to the use of force to resolve the Taiwan issue.

In order to realize the reunification of Taiwan by force, the first thing our army is facing is an amphibious landing operation.

Amphibious landing operations can be regarded as one of the most complex and difficult forms of warfare in modern warfare.

Regardless of the success or defeat of successive landing operations in history, the attacking side has often paid a very heavy price.

For the Plaster, the experience of amphibious landing operations is not much. In the few landing operations, there were such painful experiences as the Battle of Kinmen, the Battle of Da dan Island and the Battle of Nanri Island.

In particular, the Battle of Kinmen is still a lingering shadow of our army. Compared with the former Kinmen Island, the difficulty of landing on the main island of Taiwan is obviously not the same. In terms of area alone, the latter is 240 times larger than the former.

From the perspective of implementing amphibious landing operations, there are not many shore sections suitable for landing on Taiwan Island, and most of them are concentrated on the west coast facing the mainland. The mountainous terrain is also not conducive to the deployment of the troops immediately after landing, and they will develop in depth.

Since the withdrawal of the "two Chiang Kai-shek" to the island of Taiwan, the Taiwan military has always attached great importance to anti-landing operations. After entering the new century, the Taiwan military has established the principle of joint operations of the three services, which gives priority to air and sea combat strength, and formally defined the offensive strategy of "resisting the enemy from abroad" as the operational thinking of the Taiwan army.

According to the plan, Taiwan's army, navy, and air force will perform their respective duties and jointly carry out anti-landing combat tasks.

Among them, the Navy will mainly carry out the air defense mission of the strait, focusing on the attack on the PLA landing ship regiment;

The Air Force is mainly responsible for attacking important targets along the coast of the mainland and assembling landing forces, and performing air defense tasks over the island of Taiwan;

The Army is mainly responsible for defending the main island of Taiwan and other outer islands such as Kinmen, Matsu, and penghu islands, and cooperating with the navy and air force in carrying out anti-landing operations.

According to the Taiwan army's operational guiding ideology of "resisting the enemy on the other side, hitting the enemy in the middle of the crossing, destroying the enemy on the beachhead, and annihilating the enemy in the front," Taiwan's anti-landing operation is roughly divided into four stages: "making a war first," "intercepting by crossing and jointly attacking the berth," "decisive battle on the beach," and "counterattacking with all our might."

Phase 1 "First Craft Battle"

The so-called "pre-emptive warfare" is actually a preemptive strike against our army in the preparatory stage for the PLA's landing operations.

The premise of pre-emptive strikes is reliable intelligence support. At present, Taiwan has basically established a relatively complete three-dimensional reconnaissance and early warning system, which can conduct all-weather surveillance of the area within 600 kilometers around Taiwan Island, and can basically cover military airfields and other military targets located in Fujian, Zhejiang, Jiangxi, and Guangdong.

Once it is found that there are signs of a large-scale build-up of troops along the coast, the Taiwan Air Force's F-16, Mirage-2000, IDF and other fighters will carry "Harpoon" anti-ship missiles, the "Wanjian" remote attack weapon system, as well as the AGM-158 cruise missile that may be introduced in the future, and other air-to-face weapons, and take the initiative to attack our ports, ships, airfields, communication systems, command centers, landing ship assembly areas, and logistics supply facilities.

At the same time, the surface ships of the Taiwan military, as well as the garrisons on the main island of Taiwan and the outer islands of Kinmen and Matsu, will also use the "Harpoon" and "Hsiung Feng" -II./III. anti-ship missiles, as well as the "Yunfeng" cruise missile currently equipped while testing, to strike at the above targets.

Taiwan has been painstakingly operating for many years, and the amphibious landing operation is far from being as simple as imagined
According to the island's media, the Yunfeng cruise missile is one of Taiwan's "strategic" weapons designed to deter the northern and central parts of the mainland, claiming to be able to break through the mainland's air defense system and attack the Three Gorges Dam and the capital, Beijing. The Yunfeng cruise missile has a flight speed between Mach 2.5 and Mach 3, and the range of later models can reach about 1500 to 2000 kilometers.

If the missile is equipped with the Taiwan military in batches, it may pose a certain threat to the southeast coast of the mainland and the depth of the inland.

In addition to conventional tactics, in the "first-to-produce battle," the Taiwan military also plans to use squad-sized special attack detachments to attack and harass our important targets, such as dispatching an underwater demolition brigade, diving to the mainland coast to carry out blasting and laying, and destroying our ports, docks, and means of delivery. Use agents lurking on the mainland to sabotage mainland cities and transportation hubs.

Phase II "Joint Attack on Crossing Interception and Berth"

The anti-landing operation at this stage consisted of two parts: "crossing interception" and "berthing attack".

Among them, the "voyage interception" operation will take the PLA amphibious ships as the main target of attack, and it is also the main means for the Taiwan military to "strike the enemy at sea."

During the "voyage interception" operation, the Taiwan military regarded the area east of the middle line of the strait and 30 to 50 nautical miles from the main island as the key interception area. When our amphibious ships are sailing, the Taiwan military will organize naval and air forces to implement long-range fire blockades, while the army will mainly attack our ship regiment with large-caliber artillery and shore-based missiles.

The Taiwan military believes that although this kind of sea concentrated fire interception cannot completely annihilate the other side's landing forces at sea, it can cause them to suffer heavy losses and greatly reduce the pressure on the anti-landing operations in the future.

"Berth attack" means that during the implementation of anchorage and transfer, the defenders attacked it with three-dimensional firepower of sea, land and air, in order to achieve "destroying the enemy at the waterfront beachhead".

The Taiwan military believes that the stage from the transfer of waters to the time of entering the beachhead is the period when the combat effectiveness of the landing troops is the most fragile, so it is necessary to take this opportunity to deal a heavy blow to them, resolutely prevent the landing troops from landing, and gain a foothold on the beachshore.

When the Taiwan military carried out the "interception of navigation" and the "berth attack," it showed the scene of the army, navy, and air force fighting in unison. Among them, the Air Force's F-16, Mirage, IDF and other fighters will use anti-ship missiles such as Harpoon or other precision-guided munitions, and even cannons to carry out air strikes against our ships.

The Navy's "Kidd" class destroyers, "Chenggong" class and "Kangding" class frigates, "Guanghua 6" and "Tuojiang" class/"Tajiang" class guided missile boats and "Haifeng Brigade" (Taiwan Navy's shore-based anti-ship missile unit) and the Coast Guard's "Anping" class missile boats will also use "Hsiung Feng" -II./III. and other anti-ship missiles to cooperate with the landing forces of our voyage.

At the same time, the Taiwan Army will also use various types of artillery to suppress the fire of our ships, and gradually increase the density of fire from far and near.

It is reported that the Taiwan military has purchased a batch of US M142 "Haimas" multiple rocket systems and its supporting ATACMS Army tactical ballistic missiles.

The ATACMS introduced by Taiwan this time is a single-body warhead M57 bullet with a range of about 300 kilometers and a warhead weight of 500 pounds.

From the performance point of view, the "Haimas" is much stronger than Taiwan's self-developed "Thunder-2000" in terms of range and reliability. If deployed to the outer islands, the rocket launcher could not only threaten the PLA's landing ships, but may even strike at PLA military strongholds deep in the mainland.

Phase III "Beach Showdown"

The "decisive battle on the beach" is the most crucial link in the Taiwan military's anti-landing operation.

To this end, the Taiwan military has deployed a large number of anti-tank refusals, "dragon's teeth," rail bars, triangular cones, barbed wire, iron deer blocks, hedgehogs, iron fences, iron nail piles, blocking trenches, blocking walls, anti-airborne triangular forks, reinforced concrete wave-blocking blocks, as well as explosives such as mines and mines, and even ingeniously requisitioned fishing nets, box nets, and other aquaculture facilities of local fishermen to block relevant waterways and harbors, increasing the difficulty of landing troops.

Even if the landing force successfully lands, the Taiwan army's various permanent fortifications will be an insurmountable obstacle.

At present, in accordance with the requirements of "underground fortifications, battlefields in garrisons, and battlefield fortresses," the Taiwan military has basically formed a defense fortification system with tunnels and underground fortifications as the backbone and reinforced concrete bunkers as the main body.

Taiwan has been painstakingly operating for many years, and the amphibious landing operation is far from being as simple as imagined

The fortifications are very strong and extremely resistant to destruction, most of them can withstand the direct hit of at least one 105 mm grenade, and some can even withstand the direct hit of a 155 mm grenade.

In previous Taiwan military "HanGuang" exercises, we can often see videos of old tanks such as the M60A3 and M48H "Yonghu" (CM11) shooting at sea targets at the waterfront beachhead.

Perhaps realizing that the weapons of these "grandfathers" are vulnerable to the mainland's advanced tanks, the Taiwan military not only launched the self-developed "Clouded Leopard" 105mm mobile artillery vehicle project, but also began to purchase about 100 US-made M1A2T main battle tanks to strengthen the counterattack capability at the landing site.

Taiwan has been painstakingly operating for many years, and the amphibious landing operation is far from being as simple as imagined

The M1A2T main battle tank is actually a Taiwanese customized version of the M1A2 main battle tank, with the overall performance comparable to the M1A2C (M1A2 SEP V3), and generally has the ability to compete with the PLA Type 99A main battle tank.

If combined with the AH-1W "Super Cobra" and AH-64E "Apache" helicopter gunships to provide air support, the future beach firepower of the Taiwan military will become one of the biggest obstacles in the PLA's landing operations.

Stage 4 "All-Out Counterattack"

In the history of war, the defensive side wants to win, but it is often impossible to resist for a long time. Taiwan's territory is small and there is limited room for maneuvering, so the Taiwan military must launch a counterattack in a timely manner in the anti-landing operation before it has the opportunity to turn passivity into initiative.

The counterattack of the Taiwan army is usually carried out when the first echelon of the PLA landing force breaks through its first-line defensive positions and advances towards the second-line defensive positions. The force of the counterattack was mainly the army, and the navy and air force provided support and cooperation.

The Counterattack Operation of the Taiwan Army was divided into a local counterattack and a strategic general counterattack. In the local counterattack, the Taiwan army will invest several armored brigades and infantry brigades in the main defensive direction to form a local superiority in troop strength, eliminate the main force of our landing forces, and retake airfields, ports, and other military points.

Taiwan has been painstakingly operating for many years, and the amphibious landing operation is far from being as simple as imagined

On the basis of the local counterattack, the strategic general counterattack adopts the method of air-ground integration of operations, and in the form of combining frontal assault with wing-side assault, it is directly inserted into the middle of our landing force to block the follow-up of the follow-up landing force.

According to the so-called "Gu'an Operational Plan," the Taiwan military's defense concept has gradually evolved from "defensive entrenchment, heavy-duty deterrence," "combat strength protection, coastal decisive victory, and beachfront annihilation of the enemy" to "multi-dimensional defense, heavy-laced obstruction, protracted defensive position, and key breakthroughs." It can be seen from this that the Taiwan military already has the intention of sticking to the rescue and fighting a "defensive counterattack" in the anti-landing operation.

In fact, in the previous taiwan strait combat plan, the US military had a set of plans for "catching turtles in an urn," that is, first allowing hundreds of thousands of people in our army to complete the landing, then blocking the Taiwan Strait and joining hands with the Taiwan army to encircle and annihilate our army. This strategy cannot be a vicious and negative one, and once successfully implemented, it will deal an extremely heavy blow to our morale.

Taiwan has been painstakingly operating for many years, and the amphibious landing operation is far from being as simple as imagined

These are the four stages imagined by the Taiwan military in its anti-landing operations. Although there are some unrealistic and even fanciful elements, there are also many places that deserve our attention and vigilance.

We should see that while our army is actively preparing for the attack on Taiwan, the Taiwan military's research and training related to anti-landing operations have never stopped.

Although there are various shortcomings and weaknesses in the Taiwan military today, and the degree of "strawberrification" is becoming more and more serious, it should not be much dispute that the Taiwan military is one of the armies in the world that attaches great importance to anti-landing operations at present, and in its annual "Hanguang Exercise," joint anti-landing operations are always the highlight of the play.

During this year's "Hanguang No. 38" exercise, the Taiwan military conducted targeted exercises on the "counter-assault" subject of tamsui River.

Taiwan has been painstakingly operating for many years, and the amphibious landing operation is far from being as simple as imagined

During the exercise, the Taiwan military quickly deployed a "chain of resistance" composed of explosives on the surface of the Freshwater River, and when the PLA's "European Bison" class air cushion landing craft broke through the sea and air interception blockade and attacked Taipei City along the river, it immediately detonated explosives and destroyed the target.

It can be said that although the "Hanguang Exercise" in recent years has not completely shaken off the color of "acting," its actual combat color has obviously improved compared with the past, and the Taiwan military's anti-landing and anti-airborne combat capabilities have also been improved to a certain extent in the course of repeated pounding.

Historical examples of light enemies advancing and leading to disastrous defeats abound, and the Battle of Kinmen in the past is a living example. Therefore, only when our army knows itself and knows the other and is lenient in anticipating the enemy can it recover the treasure island at the lowest cost and realize the final reunification of the country.
