Ms. Doi (39 years old, head of a tea production and processing company) has a terrace as simple as any other house. The yard is spacious and airy, but it gets hot every summer. In November 2021, Mr. and Mrs. Doi decided to transform the terrace into a "cloud garden".
"My family was originally farming, so I always liked farming. I wanted to have a green, cool space around my property; Not to mention, there are more clean vegetables for family meals," Ms. Doi shared.
Her roof garden currently covers an area of 250 square meters and is fully organic vegetables and fruits, including 400 cantaloupe roots, 100 peppers, 100 eggplant roots, 1 Japanese melon, 1 melon and some clean seasonal vegetables such as hollow cabbage, vanilla, okra, peppers, tomatoes... Recently, she planted 100 more pots of chrysanthemums and 450 strawberry roots to decorate the green space even more beautifully.
Every day, despite her busy schedule, Ms. Doi spends 2 hours caring, irrigating, and finding and treating pests and diseases in the garden in a timely manner. In summer, she waters 7-8 times a day to avoid water shortages and slow growth. In the winter, she limits watering, about 3 to 4 times a day.
Since plants are mainly grown in greenhouses, Ms. Doi did not encounter too many difficulties. She often copes with abnormal weather, isolating pests and insects that destroy trees. In addition, the technique of growing plants does not require too much fuss, as long as the technical process is followed, everything will grow well.
However, the soil selection stage is very important. According to Ms. Doi, fertile soil with a certain porosity should be chosen. Cow dung, earthworms, and microorganisms can be mixed to increase nutrients. Plants should choose light-loving and good vitality.
Since working in gardening, her family has supported and helped her take care of and clean her. The husband is the closest person to help the wife waterproof. He was the one who designed the membrane house that was completely separated from the exterior. The drip irrigation system not only guarantees the right amount of water, but also helps to reduce maintenance time.

Within a year, Ms. Doi's garden was divided into 2 crops. Spring and summer are plants and fruits such as melons; and strawberries harvested in winter. Recently, Ms. Doi excitedly shared the results of her "Cloud Garden", in which there are 400 ripe melons, each weighing 2 kilograms.

Ms. Doi also hung many red lanterns, arranged more coffee tables and bird cages, and decorated the "Garden in the Clouds". The place quickly became a refreshing relaxing space for her family to relax and enjoy the scenery. When the spring blossoms, the terrace garden is a place for friends, family or children to visit, experience and take photos.
"For me, the garden was my creative. I think plants are like people. When they are loved, cared for, and cherished, they will repay us well. Every time I go to the garden, I see that all the stress of work and life seems to be gone," she shares.
