Chen Baiwei's resignation from the party may lead to the decline of Taiwan's base

Taiwan's Ki-jin (hereinafter referred to as the "Ki-Jin Party"), which nominated twelve people to run for local county and city councilors in the "nine-in-one" election four years ago, made a comeback in this year's "nine-in-one" election, and yesterday held a "press conference on the nomination of all Taiwan for the county and city council election", announcing the launch of 24 candidates to participate in the election of county and city councilors in nine counties and cities.

However, it was unfavorable, because just the day before, Chen Baiwei, the only former public member of the KPP, announced his withdrawal from the KPP. Not only has it failed to cheer up the KPP candidates, but on the contrary, it may drag down the KPP candidates. Therefore, some people speculate that Chen Baiwei's choice to announce his withdrawal from the Kijin Party at this moment is a "premeditated" action.

Although both Chen Yiqi and Chen Baiwei, chairmen of the Radical Progressive Party, have both twisted their hands to deny this speculation, the contradiction between Chen Baiwei and the Radical Progressive Party has long existed, and this is already a well-known fact in the streets. In fact, on April 17 this year, when Chen Baiwei announced his resignation as the chairman of the Party Department of the Radical Progressive Party, it was already rumored in the political arena that Chen Baiwei would resign from the party. Shortly thereafter, the Decision of the Central Committee of the Radical Progressive Party to impose party discipline on chen Baiwei and non-party and DEMOCRATIC Progressive Party member candidates violating party discipline was unacceptable to Chen Baiwei and became the last straw in his decision to resign from the party.

This state of affairs reflects that the ultra-"Left" small political parties that were established or grew up during the "Sunflower Movement" such as the Radical Progressive Party and the Forces of the Times have a common characteristic, that is, their members are all a group of hot-blooded "limelight" and harbor strong individual heroism. Not only is it always possible outside the Party, but it is also within the Party that no one obeys anyone. For example, the once glorious power of the times has declined because of many infighting, many of whom have withdrawn one after another, even the founders and even the party chairman.

This is especially true of Taiwan's Radical Movement. Its "extremely independent" nature is universally recognized, and its self-proclaimed battle slogan of "this young local contingent only died in battle, not surrendered" also made people look sideways, and "became famous in World War I" by carrying out "physical protest" when Zhang Zhijun, former director of the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, visited Kaohsiung.

However, these "enthusiastic young people" are a bunch of people who are "engaged in earthquakes and hired to help", and have never operated in local areas, so it is difficult to win the favor of voters. As a result, in the 2018 "nine-in-one" election, it first introduced candidates to participate in the county and city councillor elections, and the twelve candidates were all inked. In the "legislator" election in 2020, the Radical Progressive Party nominated ten people to participate in the "regional legislature" election, and only Chen Baiwei, who "parachuted" to the second electoral district of Taichung, took advantage of the "aesthetic fatigue" of local voters for more than 20 years to "monopolize" local public offices by the Yan family, and Yan Kuanheng's "light enemy" to make his "raid" successful. But the other nine also hated to lose. In the election of "non-divisional legislators", the party's political party won only 3.1% of the votes, failing to cross the 5% "threshold" and not being allocated "non-divisional legislators" seats.

But even so, because the Radical Progressive Party actively participated in the "recall case" of The KMT Kaohsiung Mayor Han Kuo-yu, it was countered, and "Han Fan" carried out "retaliatory recalls" across Taiwan against the most prominent "anti-Korean" people. Following the successful dismissal of dpp Taoyuan City Councillor Wang Haoyu, Chen Baiwei's "legislator" was also removed. After Chen Baiwei was deposed, not only was his personal hero name unsatisfied, but he also "owed" the DPP 's "human affection" because he had won the DPP's Olympic aid in his "recall case" and began to get close to the DPP. Whether in the "Four Referendums" or in the "Legislator" by-election in Taichung City's Second Electoral District, Chen Baiwei has become a "pawn" of the DPP. It is in the course of this "nine-in-one" election that the DPP and non-party county and city councillors in central Taiwan like to make pictures taken with him into large billboards that stand on the streets and traffic arteries. Since the KPP also nominated twenty-four county and city councillors to run for election in nine counties and cities, Chen Baiwei's behavior was of course a violation of the party discipline of the KPC, so the party's Central Committee decided to punish the party. Of course, Chen Baiwei could not accept it, so the day before the CPP held a press conference to officially announce the list of candidates for the county and city councilors nominated by him, he announced his withdrawal from the CPP. Moreover, after he leaves the party, he will join the campaign team of the DPP's Taichung mayoral candidate Tsai Qichang, but he has not yet decided whether to join the DPP.

In his resignation statement, Chen Baiwei exposed his personal heroism. He said that after he voted on his "recall case", the chairman of the Kijin Party, Chan Yiqi, told him that he must be calm and calm, but he "coveted the cheers of the fans, believing that he had been rushing to play, and pointed out the affairs of the team without giving it to the court". Chen Yiqi obviously did not agree with and appreciated Chen Baiwei's style, so he said in an interview after yesterday's press conference that Chen Baiwei was a member of Taiwan's Radical Partners, not a "hen". Chen Yiqi also said that Taiwan's radical will not pursue individual heroism.

As some people have commented, in fact, when Chen Baiwei became the first public office since the founding of the Party, its "star aura" has long surpassed the whole party, but the Radical Progressive Party is unwilling to let Chen Baiwei dominate the political party, and even if Chen Baiwei's team members want to run, the Radical Progressive Party is unwilling to provide a fair nomination opportunity, and one incident after another has made Chen Baiwei's withdrawal from idea to action.

In fact, Chen Yiqi and others may have the sentiment of "Wu Dalang opening a shop - not willing to subordinates to be higher than themselves", which makes it difficult for Chen Baiwei, who is originally a "limelight", to adapt. Moreover, Chen Yiqi himself is even more "upright and not self-righteous", occupying the position of chairman of the Kijin Party for more than ten years, and still unwilling to "let Xian" step down, which also caused Chen Baiwei to be strongly dissatisfied.

Therefore, it is estimated that after the "nine-in-one" election, if the Kijin Party does not win a good election, or even exhausts the whole army again, a group of people may follow Chen Baiwei and quit the Kijin Party. However, whether or not to join the DPP may also be hesitant like Chen Baiwei. After all, the DPP, after more than a decade in power, has tended to be conservative, from wearing straw shoes to leather shoes, and will not necessarily accept these extreme individual heroes.
