After 15 years of innocent detention by the United States, Afghan Asadura Haron was released by the United States from Guantanamo Bay in Cuba

Born in Nangarhar province, Afghanistan in 1981, Asadulla Halong was arrested by U.S. forces in 2007 on charges that he was an al-Qaida messenger. #International#

U.S. troops detained him on grounds that he may have possession of ongoing al-Qaida operations or more information. Asadullah Halong and his family completely deny this.

On June 22, 2007, Asadulla Haron was transferred by U.S. forces to the Guantanamo internment camp, where he began a 15-year detention.

On April 9, 2013, a U.S. court called for the Freedom of Information Act to be one of 71 people deemed too innocent to charge, but too dangerous to be released.

In October 2021, Prochoki, a lawyer for Asadullah Haron, argued that he should be released because U.S. hostilities in Afghanistan had ceased, but the judge dismissed the arguments.

This year, with the help of Qatar, Asadura Halong was released by the United States and returned to Kabul today.
