Renowned painter-artist Amelie Carr Emily Carr
Emily Carr (December 13, 1871 – March 2, 1945), born in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada, was one of Canada's leading painters and writers who adopted the modernist and post-impressionist styles, especially in the native forest scenes of the Turks, which inspired her to create, while as a writer, Carl was one of the earliest chroniclers of life in British Columbia.
She said that "art is art, nature is nature, you can't change it... Paintings should be inspired by nature and be the soul of the artist's production"
Founded in 1925, emily Carr University of Art and Design (ECU) (formerly vancouver school of decorative and applied arts) is recognized worldwide as an innovative and exceptional institution in visual arts, film and television art and design. It is one of the four independent art schools in Canada. In 1978 the university was renamed the school named after emily carr (ECU) emily carr university of art + design (ECU) emily carr university.
