After Gustavo's victory, in several cities across Colombia, including the capital Bogotá, as well as in poorer provinces, local residents gathered in the central square with Gustavo's supporters to celebrate Gustavo Petro's election as President of Colombia by ending colombia's right-wing rule.

Gustavo was also the first head of state of the Republic of Colombia not belonging to the conservative-liberal faction in the more than 200 years since its independence.

In Bogotá, although it rained, it did not dampen the support of Bogotá residents for Gustavo Petro.
