Gemfields will be auctioning 2 rough Mozambican rubies weighing 61.50 ct

Gemfields plans to hold the first round of rough ruby auctions of 2022 in Bangkok, Thailand, in June, with the highlight being two impressive Mozambican rough rubies weighing 32.5 ct and 29 ct respectively. It is estimated that the 2 rubies will weigh more than 10ct after cutting and polishing.

These 2 rubies have stunning dimensions, bright colors, and excellent clarity. They were mined in November 2021 and February 2022 from the Mugloto alluvial deposit in the Montepuez mine in Mozambique, where two rough ruby "Eyes of the Dragon" weighing 45ct were previously discovered.

Gemfields said some of the proceeds from the auction for the ruby rough will be donated to Quirimbas National Park in Mozambique.

A newly discovered rough 125 ct diamond has been discovered in the Kingdom of Lesotho

British diamond miner Gem Diamonds announced last week that it had mined a 125 ct rough gem-quality diamond weighing 125 ct at the Letšeng mine in the Kingdom of Lesotho with outstanding whiteness and clarity. This is the second rough diamond over 100ct found at the mine this year, just one week after the discovery of the last rough 129ct diamond.

Located in the northern part of the Kingdom of Lesotho at an average elevation of 3,100 metres above sea level, the Letšeng mine is the highest diamond mine in the world and the highest priced kimberlite diamond mine in the world. In 2006, Gem Diamonds acquired a 70% stake in the mine and has so far mined 60 rough gem-quality diamonds over 100 ct, five of which are among the 20 largest rough diamonds in the world.

IGI International Gemological Institute last week announced the completion of the testing of three synthetic diamonds submitted by Indian synthetic diamond producer Greenlab, the largest of which is a 27.27 ct lamina-shaped stepped cut diamond named "Om", the CVD chemical vapor deposition synthetic diamond and the world's largest polished synthetic diamond.

The other two cultivated diamonds tested at the same time were the 20.24 ct emerald cut diamond "Shivaya" and the 15.16 ct pear-shaped rose cut diamond "Namah". These 3 CVD synthetic diamonds will be unveiled to the public at the JCK Las Vegas Jewelry Show.
