An amateur photographer accidentally snapped a stunning photo of a flying ray that had been hiding from photographers for years. Maurice Ashton, 76, was practicing photographing crested terns when he accidentally caught a rare white-spotted eagle ray flying out of the water. Dozens of wildlife enthusiasts desperately photographed the elusive ray near Eraring, New South Wales, Australia, but all failed because they only had a split second to jump out of the water. Maurice missed the bird he wanted to photograph, but happened to press the shutter at the exact moment to catch the fish.
