Let's turn the time back to 1937, after the Red Army was reorganized into the Eighth Route Army, not all of them went to the front-line battlefield to fight against the Japanese Kou, and some of them stayed in the Northern Shaanxi Soviet Region, together with local troops to defend the Party Central Committee, called the "Left Behind Corps", the commander was Xiao Jinguang, and Mo Wenhua served as the director of the Political Department.
At that time, Gao Gang was serving as the secretary of the Northwest Bureau of the Communist Party of China, and theoretically, the left-behind corps should be under his jurisdiction, and the transfer of troops and personnel changes should be reported to him. However, Xiao Jinguang believed that the left-behind corps belonged directly to the Party Central Committee and that the Northwest Bureau had no right to interfere, so he refused to follow the instructions and orders issued by Gao Gang and did not want to report to him on his daily work.
Gao Gang felt that Xiao Jinguang did not respect the Northwest Bureau, so at a meeting held in 1943, he criticized the Left Guard Corps for engaging in "individualism" and "independenceism", and later the rhetoric became more and more fierce, saying that the style of the Left Guard Corps was no different from that of the warlords and that it should be severely rectified.
When the great man learned of this, he tried his best to mediate between them, hoping that the two sides could get rid of their previous grievances and unite as one. The great man once talked to Xiao Jinguang alone and told him to respect the local organizations, and even when the Party Central Committee voted on some matters, he had to ask the opinions of the Northwest Bureau, and the left-behind corps should not be special!
The unhappiness between Mo Wenhua and Gao Gang occurred in 1939. At that time, Mo Wenhua was ordered by Xiao Jinguang to go to the grass-roots level to inspect the troops, during which he found that the masses had a lot of criticism of the soldiers of the 4 regiments, and Mo Wenhua carefully understood the relevant situation, summarized it into a report, and submitted it to Xiao Jinguang.
After Xiao Jinguang read it, he immediately transferred it to the Central Military Commission, and Elder Zhu always felt that this was the mass work of the Northwest Bureau that was not done well, resulting in the military and the people not getting along well, so he severely criticized the Northwest Bureau.
Gao Gang felt very wronged, so he asked the great man to make his own decision. After listening to the opinions of all sides, the great man determined that the main responsibility for this matter lay with the remaining corps, and the troops disregarded discipline and did not follow the instructions of their superiors to follow the mass line.
The party Central Committee held a special meeting to discuss how to safeguard military-civilian relations; Mo Wenhua made a review at the meeting, and Xiao Jinguang also stated that he would strengthen his jurisdiction and restraint over the troops in the future.
The problem was solved, but the relationship between Gao Gang, Mo Wenhua and Xiao Jinguang was getting closer and closer to the freezing point, and the three of them often competed secretly.
For example, at the end of 1939, Gao Gang proposed himself as the political commissar of the Left Behind Corps, which could actually unite the army and the government closely and improve the organization and coordination efficiency of various departments in the Yan'an Soviet District, but Xiao Jinguang disagreed, and he told Mo Wenhua that the political commissar should be a person within the corps.
Mo Wenhua agreed with Xiao Jinguang's point of view, and he immediately submitted a report to the Party Central Committee, requesting that Xiao Jinguang concurrently serve as the political commissar, and the great man carefully weighed it up and approved it. After Gao Gang heard the news, he was even more dissatisfied with Xiao Jinguang and Mo Wenhua.
In 1951, in order to strengthen the construction of the northeast region, the Party Central Committee transferred Mo Wenhua from Guangxi to the Northeast Military Region as the director of the Political Department, assisting the "King of the Northeast" in carrying out relevant work.
Mo Wenhua attached great importance to this appointment, and he visited Gao Gang at the first time he set foot on the black land, hoping to close the relationship so that the future team officer would be smoother.
Unexpectedly, Gao Gang was very cold to Mo Wenhua, and after shaking hands with him and asking him two sentences as usual, he buried himself in his own food and hung him aside. Mo Wenhua felt a little embarrassed, sat for a while, and then left on his own.
In 1952, the Central Military Commission rated the cadres of the troops, and Mo Wenhua had previously served as the political commissar of the corps, which was supposed to be at the level of the main corps, but Gao Gang forcibly demoted him half a level to the rank of deputy corps.
Mo Wenhua was very unhappy, and in order to bridge the gap between him and Gao, Luo Shuai summoned him to Beijing, personally accompanied him to climb the mountain to relax his mind, and advised him to be tolerant and do a good job, without paying too much attention to fame and fortune.
Mo Wenhua felt a little better in his heart, so he did not argue with Gao Gang anymore and focused on the construction of the northeast. In 1954, he was assigned to the General Staff Department, where he was responsible for the preparation of the Political College. In 1975, he was transferred to the Armored Corps as a political commissar, retired in 1988, and died in 2000 at the age of 90.
Party organizations are objective, but party organizations are composed of specific people, and everyone has different subjective thoughts, so it is inevitable that there will be differences on some issues, which is a normal phenomenon.
