The 21st Inter-American Bolivarian Union Heads of State and Summit was held on Friday (May 27) local time at the Palace of revolution in Havana, Cuba. The summit was attended by 11 heads of state and heads of state of the American continent and the Caribbean, including Díaz Canel, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, President Nicolas Maduro of Venezuela, President Luccio Arce of Bolivia and President Daniel Ortega of Nicaragua (video present).
Sasha Lorenti, Secretary-General of the Bolivarian Union of the Americas, has publicly condemned the discriminatory treatment and arbitrary, ideological and politically motivated exclusions perpetrated by the United States towards Cuba, Venezuela and Nicaragua.
Secretary-General Lorenti stressed that as the host of the Summit of the Americas, the United States has no right to exclude any country in the Americas. In addition, Lorenti condemned the Biden administration's humiliating treatment of representatives of civil society organizations in the aforementioned countries of continental America.
Lorenti also said any unilateral exclusion decision would be the worst historical setback in relations in the Western Hemisphere, and its actions seriously offended the peoples of Latin America and the Caribbean.
