The source of vampires is actually a variety of folk legends in the early years, especially among the Slavs. Such as vampire bat attacks, wolves bite after death into vampire zombies, night out of the bloodthirsty banshee, evil spirits or dead bodies, etc., at that time there was no word vampire, people directly called vampire monsters or devils.
But when it comes to influence, there are two main arguments. One originated from Vlad, prince of Wallachia (southern Romania).
Wallachia, which bordered the Ottomans at that time, fell into the hands of the Turks, and the young Vlad and his brother went to Turkey as hostages, where they were humiliated and tortured. After his father and brother died, it is said that he was murdered by the Turks behind the plot, and he was released home to succeed him as duke, originally intending that the Turks wanted to use him, but he had hatred buried in his heart.
During his reign, Vlad III was threatened by the Turks for his power, and his relations with his neighbors were tense, spending many years in the struggle for power (the sorrow of a small country and a small family). This makes him change his heart into a violent and cruel, ruthless, but also very tenacious and indomitable, never accepting defeat.
He especially hated the Turks to the bone, and once caught, he pierced them from the buttocks with sharpened wooden stakes and inserted them into the ground for display, a practice that later spread to the people he ruled. Fearful of his obscenity, people began to portray him as a bloodthirsty king and gave him the title of Tepes (it is also said that his real name is Tepes), which means piercing in the Luo language, which is the origin of Vlad, the piercing king.
His father had joined the Christian Order of Dragon Knights, so he received the title of Dracula (meaning dragon in The Luo language), and Vlad as the son was called Dracula (meaning the son of the dragon), and coincidentally, dracula also had a demonic meaning in the Luo language.
In short, such historical rumors and legends are all mixed together, making him the archetypal character in an earlier vampire novel, Dracula, who was imprisoned in a room in Brown Castle and also made the famous vampire castle in the novel.
