Shovel Knight: Masterless Treasure is the full version of this classic 2D side-scrolling platformer. It comes with everything from the series' past, and if you haven't bought it yet, it gives you another good reason to play the game.
Players play as Shovel Knights in the game, but there are many other memorable characters in missions that can be unlocked. While the main goal is to complete each level and defeat the boss, the secondary goal of exploring and digging to collect as much treasure as possible is undoubtedly more appealing.
As you might have guessed, your primary weapon is a shovel that you can use to attack, dig up treasure, and bounce over enemies' heads.
Axiom Verge

Although Axiom's bright sci-fi setting is very different from The Hollow Knight's gloomy Gothic aesthetic, the game has similar depth of exploration, action-packed battles, and detailed legends.
Players take on the role of a scientist named Trace, who finds himself in an unfamiliar, high-tech world after suffering serious damage. Axiomatic Edge seems to be heavily influenced by Galactic Warrior, Bioshone, Contra, and Super Confused Star Wars, but that's not necessarily a bad thing, it's like a proper retro Galactic Castlevania game, and even has a 16-Bit art style.
The game has tons of ability boosts and items to unlock, as well as a wide variety of weapons to use. It's just that you'll use a gun that fires fluorescent energy projectiles to destroy enemies instead of swinging nails around.
Hades: Battle Out of Hell

Hades is a great roguelike dungeon game with almost everything you'd want in the game: great art design, voice acting, combat, music, and story.
You control Hades' son Zagreos, who tries to escape the underworld and head to Mount Olympus. The game features smooth slashing and combat, and can perform refreshing battles with major weapon attacks, dash abilities, special attacks, and magical abilities.
The areas are random and filled with different enemies and rewards, which helps keep each area fresh. Treasures collected during your journey can also be used to unlock new abilities, weapons, and attributes to increase your chances of success in subsequent games.
Celeste

Azure won multiple awards including Best Indie Game at the 2018 TGA, and it's not hard to see why it has garnered so much recognition. With captivating retro-inspired visuals, satisfying platform jumps, and great storytelling, Azure is undoubtedly one of the best gaming experiences of the last decade.
On a fictional mountain in British Columbia, you play as a young woman named Madeleine who must ascend to the top of the mountain to defeat her inner demons.
Although there are no Galactic Castlevania elements in the game, Azure and Void Knight are not completely different. They all have difficult platforms, cute visuals, and an absolutely unparalleled experience.
Dead Cells

While Dead Cell is more roguelike than Galaxy Castlevania, the self-proclaimed "roguevania" game still bears some resemblance to Hollow Knight. In addition to being one of the best indie games of recent years, Dead Cell offers powerful slash-and-slash combat, brutal bosses, and gorgeous pixel visuals.
You play as an amorphous creature controlled by a decapitated corpse who tries to escape a series of procedurally generated dungeons. As you'd expect, Dead Cells has a permanent system — after you die, you lose all your cells, items, and any other currency you hold.
The game has a wide variety of weapons, items, and upgrades available, some of which are permanent, making subsequent runs much easier. The latest update to the game also brings new costumes, weapons, and skills from other popular Galaxy Castlevania game linkages, including Void Knight.
Cave Story

Despite its original release in 2004, Cave Story still looks and feels great, especially the enhanced version with improved graphics and extra content. The game is widely regarded as one of the most influential Galaxy Castlevania games of the last 20 years, which is all the more impressive considering that it is a single-player development team.
The game tells the story of an amnesiac robot named Quote who tries to escape from the cave and recover his memory.
Similar to Cave Knight, Cave Story excels at its fast-paced gameplay, which includes collecting experience crystals to enhance weapons and enter new areas, talking to locals around the world for insight, and solving platform puzzles.
Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night

With fluid slash-and-slash battles and a captivating visual design inspired by Spanish architecture, Blood Stain: Ritual of the Night is one of the best Galaxy Castlevania games out there. This is not surprising, as the game's development was led by Former Producer Takayuki Igarashi of the Castlevania series.
Set in England during the Industrial Revolution, the game is about an orphan, Miriam, whose body is slowly crystallizing under the curse of an alchemist. After waking up from a 10-year slumber, Miriam discovers that England has been taken over by demons that threaten humanity.
Miriam must defeat demons to save humanity, and the game revolves around a dark castle with an overall aesthetic design very similar to That of The Hollow Knight. As you destroy bosses, learn new abilities, find keys, and progress through the story, you'll be able to travel back in areas you couldn't reach before.
Metroid Dread

When you want a game with the feel of Hollow Knight, you won't miss a great Galactic warrior game. Luckily for all Galaxy warrior enthusiasts, Galaxy Warrior: Survival Fear is finally launching in 2021 – it's worth the wait.
As always, players play as Sams Alan, a galactic bounty hunter tasked with exploring mysterious planets. While Metroid: Survival Fear retains the side-scroll gameplay of the previous installments in the 2D Galaxy Warrior series, it also brings some new ideas, including stealth, free-aiming, and melee attacks.
As you'd expect from a Galaxy Warrior game, there's action, exploration, cool abilities, and tough enemies to beat. If you've never played any of the games in the series or don't remember the plot, don't worry that Galaxy warriors: Survival Fear has a prologue scene that gives you a quick overview of the entire story.
Ori and the Blind Forest

Another game known for its eye-catching art design, memorable soundtrack, and beautiful gameplay. In recent years, you may have had a hard time finding fans who disagree that Ori & The Lost Forest is one of the best in the Galaxy Castlevania genre.
Players play as Ori, a forest elf, in the game. After Nibel's forest was destroyed by a catastrophic event, Ori had to restore balance to the environment. Like Hollow Knight, it involves a lot of exploration and backtracking, as well as challenging platform-hopping sections and enemies to defeat. Skills are unlocked through the skill tree, which you can then use to access new areas and defeat more powerful enemies.

Salt and Sanctuary

Like Hollow Knight, Salt and Refuge is so inspired by the Souls series that the player character carries a refillable blood vial and must collect a soul-like currency called salt to upgrade.
There are over 600 weapons to craft and upgrade, as well as armor, spells, and items to collect as you venture through gothic horror landscapes. From treacherous dungeons to majestic cities forgotten by time, Salt and Shelter boasts stunning 2D hand-drawn visuals that make it all the more fun to go back and explore.
