Red Star Capital Bureau reported on April 19 that in response to the recent suspension of CNKI database by the Chinese Academy of Sciences due to the overwhelmed ten million renewal fee, CNKI issued a statement today in response.

CNKI said that the Documentation and Information Center of the Chinese Academy of Sciences has adjusted the procurement mode of some databases at home and abroad, including CNKI database, from a unified centralized procurement model to a joint procurement model organized by institutions in need. "The work of adjusting the ordering model of CNKI database is being carried out in an orderly manner, and each institute will choose the content to be ordered, and it is planned to complete the group work, sign the agreement and start the 2022 service in the near future."

CNKI said that after the expiration of the 2021 annual agreement, the Documentation and Information Center of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and CNKI agreed to extend the subscription service to March 31. During the transition period after April 1, CNKI continued its services without service stoppage or interruption.

Explanation of the cooperation service between CNKI and the Documentation and Information Center of the Chinese Academy of Sciences

For a long time, CNKI has worked closely with the Documentation and Information Center of the Chinese Academy of Sciences to jointly devote itself to document information protection services. In response to social concerns, the following explanations are made on the cooperation services between the two sides.

1. Since 1997, CNKI has begun to provide a series of database services for institutes affiliated to the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Since 2008, CNKI has cooperated with the Documentation and Information Center of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and the Documentation and Information Center of the Chinese Academy of Sciences has uniformly and centrally purchased databases such as CNKI journals and doctoral and master's theses to serve the institutes affiliated to the Chinese Academy of Sciences. CNKI has always cooperated sincerely with the Documentation and Information Center of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, providing a good guarantee service for the research and teaching work of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

Second, in 2022, the Documentation and Information Center of the Chinese Academy of Sciences adjusted the procurement model of some databases at home and abroad, including CNKI database, from a unified centralized procurement model to a joint procurement model organized by institutions in need. After friendly consultation, the work of adjusting the subscription model of CNKI database is being promoted in an orderly manner, and the order content is selected by each institute, and it is planned to complete the group work, sign the agreement and start the 2022 annual service in the near future.

3. After the expiration of the 2021 annual agreement, in order to meet the literature acquisition needs of scientific researchers and teachers and students, the Documentation And Information Center of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and CNKI agreed to extend the subscription service to March 31. During the transition period after April 1, CNKI continued its services without service stoppage or interruption. CNKI will also continue to provide normal services to the institutes affiliated to the Chinese Academy of Sciences until the 2022 annual agreement is signed and the service is launched.

Fourth, in the future, CNKI will continue to strengthen technological innovation, improve service capabilities, ensure service quality, and provide more comprehensive and high-quality document security services for every scientific worker and the majority of teachers and students.
