Regarding the development plan of new energy vehicles, Changan Automobile has once again released new information.

On April 13, Changan Automobile officially announced the digital pure electric brand "Changan Deep Blue" at the 2022 Global Partnership Conference, and introduced its current layout and future planning in the field of new energy.

It is understood that Chongqing Changan New Energy Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Changan New Energy") had registered the "Qiyuan" and "QIYUAN" series of trademarks at the end of last year, but in March this year, the public account originally registered as "Qiyuan Automobile" was changed to "Changan Deep Blue". According to Changan Automobile's planning, in 2022, the Changan Deep Blue brand will launch five new vehicles, namely C385EV, C673EV, UNI-KPHEV, and UNI-V PHEV.

In addition, Changan Automobile put forward the future development strategy goals at the conference, of which the sales target is to reach 4 million vehicles and new energy sales of 1.05 million vehicles by 2025, accounting for 35%; in 2030, Changan Automobile's sales will reach 5.5 million vehicles, new energy sales will reach 2.7 million vehicles, accounting for 60%, and overseas sales will account for 30%.

In terms of carbon neutrality timeline, Changan Automobile plans to achieve carbon peaking in 2027 and carbon neutrality in 2045.

In order to achieve its strategic goals, Changan Automobile said it will focus on seven key actions, including brand renewal, global product acceleration, mastering core technologies, building a new ecosystem, digital transformation, international market development and resource guarantee.

In addition to launching Changan Deep Blue and high-end pure electric brand Avita, Changan Automobile will further optimize the brand strategy and positioning of Changan UNI, Changan Passenger Vehicle, Auchan and Kaicheng, and make a comprehensive transformation to electrification and electrification. By 2025, Changan Automobile will launch more than 30 products, positioning the high-end intelligent electric vehicle market Avita has planned 4 vehicle products, the mainstream passenger car market is planned for 21 new car plans, the small car market is planned to be 4 models, and the commercial vehicle market will also launch 6 new cars. It is worth noting that Changan Automobile mentioned that it will debut the first mass-produced hydrogen fuel cell car in China in the near future.

In terms of core technologies, Changan Automobile will build a new generation of deeply integrated electric drives and break through the development and application technology of power semiconductors. Solid-state batteries and hydrogen fuel cells are also in their R&D planning, while accelerating the pace of (semi-) solid-state battery research and mass production, it will also accelerate the research and industrialization of hydrogen fuel technology.

In the field of intelligence, Changan Automobile has previously issued the "Beidou Tianshu" plan, and in the next step, in order to accelerate the implementation of the Beidou Tianshu - intelligent strategy, Changan Automobile's plan is to set up an independent technology company, optimize the organization and talent mechanism, and build a market-oriented scientific and technological innovation subject.

According to Zhu Huarong, chairman of Changan Automobile, Changan Automobile will enter the "fast lane" of global development, and will build 2-3 overseas manufacturing bases by 2025 to complete the production capacity layout of the first stage of the global automobile market. In addition, Changan Automobile also plans to establish a European headquarters and a North American headquarters in the European and North American markets in due course, and fully enter the European and North American automotive markets.

In terms of resource guarantee to achieve strategic goals, Changan Automobile mentioned at the conference that by 2025, it is expected to invest more than 80 billion yuan in key areas such as new energy, intelligence, scientific and technological innovation, and digital transformation; the total number of R&D personnel is about 20,000, of which more than 6,000 are intelligent and software R&D personnel, more than 5,000 are new energy R&D personnel, and R&D personnel account for about 1/4.
