Calm, not calm

As the leader among the young painters in Jiangsu at present, Zhang Jing has been promoted to the first batch of Zijin cultural elite youth training objects with her creative achievements; as a female painter full of vitality and vigor, her brush is trying to form a unique feminist painting language belonging to contemporary China. In the construction of these two identities, Zhang Calm is at ease and can be congratulated.
It can be seen from the works that Zhang Calm has a profound foundation in modeling, rich and delicate sensibility, and his paintings are like his people, showing the fusion of enthusiasm and unrestrained, quiet and contemplative. It can be seen that the women and flowers painted by Zhang Calm are expressions of the real inner world that come from tradition. However, the painter's creation is not satisfied with tradition, but more wants to create an independent world with his own perspective and personality and place himself in it, showing the complex psychological activities of the "she", so as to always reflect the huge tension of reflection and breakthrough in reality, and burst out everywhere a strong spiritual appeal to bravely dissect the self, show the mind, and break through the program.

In essence, painting is the tempering of the plastic language, is a cultural process, to jump out of the strong traditional system of the predecessors not only requires talent and put into practice must go through a difficult and long process. Some scholars have summarized cultural behaviors such as painting as a combination of humanization, indoctrination, and beautification. That is to say, human beings have a natural schema relationship with reality from birth, and people not only confirm themselves from the activities of transforming nature, stimulate emotions, reflect on the past, and wander the future, but more importantly, the value lies in this series of activities that pins a meaningful life individual's farewell to the past, the challenge to the self and the unremitting pursuit of ideals. Just like Sisyphus in Greek mythology and the Chinese legend of Kwapa, who dared to cling to ideals in the face of the unknown, this required extraordinary tenacity and self-confidence.
The same is true of Zhang's calm paintings. As a Chinese painting, on the basis of skillfully using basic elements such as water, color and ink and traditional modeling language, she boldly introduces exaggeration, deformation and combination of schemas, and mostly displays herself in strong, colorful and gorgeous colors, so that the audience can see the different "she" in each painting. That is to say, the first highlight of Zhang Calm's painting is that her creation has always been a reflective expression in the "structure" and exile, which can condense the instantaneous feeling of "humanization" into it, forming a "humanization" mechanism from sketching to writing people, her works have never been completed, full of unknowns, and the process of watching is the process of leading the audience to dialogue, which is meaningful.

Judy Chicago, the pioneer of Western feminist painting, said: "Actively looking at yourself is different from looking passively, and this power comes from having an understanding of your own gender, an understanding of women themselves." Therefore, "feminism" mostly shows the unique social status of women by displaying unique elements of women's body aesthetics, shaping a unique spiritual language. However, from the perspective of China's feminist painting practice, there are many practitioners who repeat the mistakes of reconstructing the Western painting language, but they have never been able to grasp the point. Zhang Calm can transplant on the basis of inheriting the traditional Chinese painting elements, showing the exuberant, independent and fiery personality of contemporary women, which can be described as unique. On the one hand, the calm painting draws on the essence of feminist artistic body aesthetics, uses the unique representation of female perspectives for strong self-expression, subverts the warm, delicate and elegant style of traditional Chinese painting of female flowers and birds, and has the personality charm of independence, upward and self-realization pursued by contemporary Chinese women; on the other hand, her paintings are different from the melancholy "self-talk" "small world" display of Western feminist paintings, but boldly enter life and go to a broad society. To express the vision of beautiful and warm flowers, so that the world of "summer flowers", "peach dreams" and "scorching flowers" in her pen all reflect the beauty of Chinese women in the new era, and are full of plump "Chinese style". Coming out of the humanized "self-talk" and entering the vast life, the personality world and aesthetic symbols that resonate with the audience mark the true maturity of an artist's cultural schema, and Zhang Calm has done it.

The age requirement is within 45 years old, a group of young artists who have graduated from the Art Association, the Book Association and professional art colleges, and are adhering to professional creation and living and developing in Nanjing.
