Huang Dexin was born in 1984 in Tangxi Town, Fengshun County. Near his hometown is the mine, where the villagers began to open the mountains to collect stones very early, and he used wisdom and sweat to turn inconspicuous stones into exquisite stone carvings, forming a unique Fengshun stone carving culture.
When he was a teenager, Huang Dexin liked to fiddle with stones, and he often picked out a few stones from the stream under the mine, this like a rabbit, that like a puppy, and couldn't help but hold a hammer and chisel with his small hand, knocking on the stone, thinking about making some small works. Huang Dexin still remembers the characters originally polished and carved. Although the appearance is immature, an irregular stone can be turned into a craft in his own hands, which makes him more interested in the art of stone carving.
Stone carving is a hard job, sometimes sitting all day. Even if he once faced misunderstanding by his father and relatives and friends, and even poured cold water, they said that Huang Dexin "eats iron, barges meat, and stones can be eaten as rice", but this does not reduce Huang Dexin's inner love for this industry. Huang Dexin said, "These cold words and ironies not only did not knock me down, but also inspired me more, I must not give up my dreams, fortunately, my lover has been supporting me!" ”
After 2014, under the guidance of his peers and teachers, Huang Dexin used a carving knife to carve different patterns on the gravel and practiced carving techniques. After Huang Dexin's hard work, he finally mastered carving techniques such as line carving, round carving, and hollow carving, and became an expert in the stone carving industry. In Huang Dexin's view, stone is not noble, carving is to excavate the potential things of stone, let the artistic language into lines and pictures, show the beauty and life of the stone, and the love buried in the youth will naturally become the foreshadowing of later creation.

With the new improvement of the understanding of stone carving art, Huang Dexin believes that excellent carving skills and thoughtful artistic thinking are indispensable. In November 2018, he went to the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts to study at the Guangdong Provincial Middle-Aged and Young Folk Craftsmen (Sculpture Art) Advanced Training Class. After returning from school, he devoted himself more to the creation of stone sculptures. In Huang Dexin's carving studio, several works of his different periods are displayed on display. Among these works, the most central one is the work "Where Has Time Gone" that won the gold medal when he participated in the Guangzhou Arts and Crafts Exhibition. Huang Dexin told us that he created this work from the inspiration of a volunteer at a nursing home. In his spare time, he always likes to ask three or five friends to take his wife and children to the nursing home welfare home, do what he can, help the elderly and children trim their hair, have a manicure, and chat with them. The idea of the work "Where Has Time Gone" slowly came out.
"Have you ever had a very crushing moment when you were creating?" I quipped to ask new. He smiled and said, "You're right to the point." Don't tell you that every time you get a material after some careful consideration and start carving, because of a lot of uncertainty in the stone, it suddenly breaks or encounters impurities. That mood ah... Every work will encounter bottlenecks in the production process, sometimes only temporarily abandoning the side, and then various ways to improve their cultural cognition and find inspirational materials; sometimes it can be completed in a flash of inspiration, and sometimes it is normal to put it for a year or two! ”
One point of hard work is one point of harvest. Full of creative passion, Huang Dexin's works "The Joy of Common Prosperity", "Where Has Time Gone", "Ruyi Life", "Life Force", and "Twenty-Four Solar Terms - Winter Solstice" won gold, silver and bronze awards at the provincial and municipal arts and crafts exhibition. The work "The Joy of Common Prosperity" also won the Double Essence Award issued by the Meizhou Municipal Federation of Literature and Literature.
Huang Dexin's wife recalls her insistence with her husband over the years, which is mixed and bitter. When he met Huang Dexin, he was working on stone carvings in his studio, only to see the machine cutting stones, the knife hammer knocking down the stones clanging, as if playing a beautiful song; the stone chips that were shot down splashed everywhere and scattered, like cheerful jumping notes. Huang Dexin's works depict "Gentleman's Wind - Orchid", the work is based on the orchids in the four gentlemen, combined with the bamboo book to show the traditional carving process in a new way to show the typical representative elements of Chinese culture, so that the orchid represents the literati's plain quiet and the charm connotation of the Han bamboo book is presented on the stone, and the overall appearance is vivid. The rough of this work is made of Fengshun stone, which has now completed a series of steps from the initial blank to the fine blank, followed by hollowing, repairing the blank, and then polishing, making the base and so on.

Huang Dexin said to me emotionally. According to Huang Dexin, the stone carvings in his studio emphasize the combination of traditional culture and innovation. Usually, as long as he has time, he likes to calm down and turn over books, draw drawings, write seal books, and study new works. At the end of the year, he will have at least a dozen new works, each of which is exquisitely composed and vivid.
