Jin Tao also said that the high temperature and high humidity of Hainan provide conditions for rapid reproduction of grassland moths, which will also endanger the breeding of corn, rice, cotton and other crops in the Nanfan area of our province, and endanger the biosecurity of Nanfan.
Since this period of time, plant protection experts have actively carried out joint control work, and have successively gone to Haikou, Sanya, Danzhou, Lingshui, Chengmai, Dongfang and other places to investigate and control, understand the use of chemical pesticides and control methods in our province, and train on the identification and prevention and control technology of grassland moth. In addition, plant protection experts from the Chinese Academy of Tropical Agricultural Sciences have also hatched adult and larvae of the grassland nightcrawler, and are currently conducting green prevention and control experiments such as parasitic bees and biological agents to select suitable methods for the green prevention and control of the grassland nightcrawler in Hainan.
At the seminar, the participating experts unanimously suggested that Hainan should coordinate the plant protection forces of the whole province, strengthen the training of farmers and relevant technical personnel in identification and prevention and control technologies, find out the occurrence area and degree of harm of the grassland moth, do a good job in monitoring and early warning of pests on the whole island, especially in the Southern Fan area, understand the situation of pests moving in and out of Hainan, strengthen the research on the biology, ecology and toxicology of pests, carry out research on green prevention and control technologies, and ensure the national biosecurity of nanfan.

In April, the agricultural department of Hainan Province judged that the grassland moth has a strong ability to migrate, and Guangxi, Guangdong and Hainan are across the sea, and the possibility of moving into Hainan is extremely high. To this end, the Institute of Environmental Plantation of the Academy of Thermal Sciences organized relevant scientific and technological personnel to carry out fixed-point monitoring and field investigation around the island. As of April 28, no suspected insectoids had been found at the four fixed monitoring points of the high-altitude insect traps in Sanya, Haikou, Lingshui and Danzhou, and the grassland moth traps installed in Sanya, Lingshui and Danzhou had not been found.
On April 30, farmers reported that meat worms harmed corn. The Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of Hainan Province quickly organized experts from the Institute of Environmental Plantation of the Academy of Thermal Sciences, Hainan University, and the Hainan Academy of Agricultural Sciences to go to the insect-infested corn field in Shiyan Village, Shishan Town, Xiuying District, Haikou City, and the scene was confirmed to be a grassland moth, with a harmful area of 5 acres, and the insect state had larvae and adults, mainly larvae.
On May 5, the maize field of Mei'an Town, Haikou City, where the Institute of Thermal Sciences is located, was once again found to harm the grassland night moth, mainly harming the ears and new leaf parts of mature corn, with an area of about 8 acres, and the insect state has larvae and adults, mainly larvae.
On May 9, the Institute of Environmental Plantation of the Academy of Thermal Sciences sent personnel to the vegetable planting ground near Chengmai Meiling Farm, and found that the grassland moth, with a density of about 400 insect populations, mainly endangers sweet corn varieties, and has been chemically controlled.
Experts from the Institute of Environmental Phylogology of the Chinese Academy of Thermal Sciences, Hainan University, and the Institute of Plant Protection of the Hainan Academy of Agricultural Sciences introduced that the prevention and control of grassland moths requires ecological regulation, protection and utilization of natural enemies, and chemical control. Areas with conditions can be intercropped with non-grass crops to protect the parasitic and predatory natural enemies of the grassland moth in the natural environment of farmland, give play to the natural control advantages of biodiversity, and form ecological interception zones.
