Osamu Tezuka, the eldest brother of the Japanese anime industry, brought some younger brothers to Tokiwaso, a wooden apartment in Shikinacho, Toshima-ku, Tokyo, Japan, who followed him around, watched movies, studied storyboarding, and learned how to draw good manga. Later, the fame of fame became a god, and the gods became gods.

Who are these little brothers?
For example, Anko and Fujimoto Hiroshi (pen names Fujiko Fujio A) who became popular all over the world with "Doraemon A" F. Fujio), Akitaro Ishimori, who had eaten enough of his old book with the manga "Kamen Rider", Hideko Mizuno, who became a pioneer with the manga "Asuna", and Fujio Akatsuka, who created the funny creed of "life is a joke" with the funny manga "Asson", and finally the "Akatsuka Reward" named after him and the "Tezuka Reward" named after Osamu Tezuka, became the "Oscar" of the Japanese manga industry to recognize newcomers.

It can be said that at that time, Osamu Tezuka not only helped and promoted a group of manga artists with "discerning heroes", but also made "Tokiwaso" a "manga mecca" that later manga artists competed to remember. And all this has to happen, we have to start with Osamu Tezuka moving to this place for a while.

In 1953, at the age of 25, Osamu Tezuka rose to fame in the manga industry with "New Treasure Island", and at this time, the manga of the legendary masterpiece "Astro Boy" began to be serialized. However, the place where he lived at that time was too noisy, the creative ideas have been intermittent, and more importantly, there is no atmosphere of comic creation around him, and it is lifeless. He searched all the way, and finally found the quiet place of "Tokiwaso" and immersed himself in creation.
Osamu Tezuka in the creation
The manga god actually lives in such a secluded and fairy place! As soon as the news broke, some young "East Drift" manga artists (young manga artists who went to Tokyo to find their dreams, the nature is a bit like "North Drift") came to visit with excitement and wanted to get a glimpse of the life of the gods. Among these visitors were Anko and Hiroshi Fujimoto, who were still smelling of milk.

They were not the first to visit Osamu Tezuka, and when they arrived at Tokiwaso, Osamu Tezuka moved out, but like many "East Drifters", they chose to follow in the footsteps of the gods and start their manga careers here. From 1954 to 1961, they lived for 7 years.
It is said that they were able to draw manga here in peace thanks to the help of Osamu Tezuka. As early as after Osamu Tezuka moved out of Tokiwaso, he found that many young manga artists came to visit, and there were many talented manga artists, so he decided to use this place as a stage to cultivate these rising stars, and the first objects of promotion and help were Fujimoto Hiroshi and Yasuko.
When Hiroshi Fujimoto and Yasuko first arrived in Tokyo in 1954, they were typical of the "Three No East Drifts", with no works, no manuscripts, and no income. Life is so embarrassing that it can only live in a small room with an area of only 3.3 square meters, but it has little effect in immersing itself in creation, and life is overstretched. When Osamu Tezuka found out, he had them move into Room 14 of Tokiwaso, the room where he had lived, and paid them half a year's rent at one time, so that they had no worries when creating.

Osamu Tezuka also asked his assistant to bring some of his own drawings to the two of them, and Quan Dang hired them as his assistants, on the one hand, as a training for new people, and on the other hand, so that they had a basic income. Here they not only solved the basic problem of food and clothing, but also met a large group of like-minded friends, including Shinichi Suzuki, Akitaro Ishimori, Fujio Akatsuka, and Naoya Mori, Takemaru Nagata, and Saburo Sakamoto, who frequented Tokiwaso, who often sat together on wooden boards and played "brain hole" games and discussed painting techniques.
At that time, Osamu Tezuka, who had two spare money in his hand, often ran back to Tokiwaso to visit these little brothers, and when he had time, he would take them to the cinema to see good movies, talk about life ideals, or make a pot of tea to teach them various screenwriting and storyboarding skills.
In 1964, Fujio Akatsuka won the 10th Elementary School Manga Award for "Asson"; in 1965, Yasuko and Fujimoto's "Little Ghost Q Taro" (now out of print), which became a hit, Q Taro's image profoundly influenced Elizabeth's styling design in the later "Gintama"; in 1966, Ishimori Akitaro won the seventh Kodansha Children's Manga Award for "Artificial Man 009" and "Super Power Gauze".

Even though they are famous, they still miss the bitter but happy days of living in Tokiwaso, and the teachings of Osamu Tezuka. In December 1969, "Doraemon" began to be serialized, and Hiroshi Fujimoto specially sent a manuscript to Osamu Tezuka, first to express his gratitude for the kindness of his opponent Osamu Tsukasa, and second, to ask him to point out his new work. Osamu Tezuka was particularly excited, and more than once praised him in public: "I think this (referring to Doraemon) is very fresh, better than what I painted, and I feel that I can't compare with him." ”

In 1981, 56-year-old Osamu Tezuka held a "window meeting" at Tokiwaso, inviting manga artists who had lived here in the past to talk to them and laugh at the years. Some of these cartoonists have two sideburns, but they laugh and cry when they recall the past. They don't know, and time doesn't know, a year later, the Tokiwa-sho, which has fallen into disrepair, will be demolished, and their former manga time will be frozen in this cup and plate "same window meeting".
Later, Osamu Tezuka left, and Fujio Akatsuka, Shotaro Ishimori, and Hiroshi Fujimoto also passed away. When he was hospitalized in 2013, He dreamed of returning to Tokiwaso and saw Osamu Tezuka and others waving at him, and he woke up for a long time. No one knows that those hard and passionate years took on a heavy weight in the hearts of the dead and the undead. Today, there is not even a place to settle down and remember, and can only look back at the past in the vast eyes of the streets.
I heard that today is Thanksgiving, I don't know if An Sun Tzu will dream of his old friends and guide Osamu Tezuka and say thank you to them?
