Benedict Cumberbatch and Andrew Garfield were nominated for Best Actor, "K" Kristen Stewart was nominated for Best Actress, Spider-Man: Homeless was nominated for Best Visual Effects, and Sunny Summer was nominated for animated feature. For the first time, this year's Oscars also featured two real-life couples, each nominated for four performance awards in the same edition.

Penelope Cruz was nominated for Best Actress for "Parallel Mother" and Javier Baden was nominated for Best Actor for "The Ricciardo Family," and the two married back in 2010. Kirsten Dunst and Jesse Plemont of "Canine Power" were nominated for Best Supporting Actress and Best Supporting Actor respectively, and the two fell in love for co-starring in "Ice Storm".

"Canine Power," which swept the awards season this year, is a feature film directed by Jane Campion and starring Benedict Cumberbatch, Curtie Smit-McPhee, Kstein Dunst, and Jesse Plemont. Adapted from Thomas Savage's novel of the same name, the film tells the story of Phil who bullied Rose's mother and son in various ways after his brother George married the widow Rose, but went to an unexpected end.

Jane Campion became the first female director in history to be nominated for best director at the Oscar twice ("The Power of the Dog" and "Piano Lessons" in 1993), and she has previously won best original screenplay for "Piano Lessons", and now "Canine Power" is also nominated for Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Picture. "The Power of Dogs" has the familiar feminist author's brush strokes.

Like her predecessor, Piano Lessons, Jane Campion excelled at examining the events of time in the Wildlands from a very modern perspective.

"Hearing Girl" became the first Apple original film starring the deaf-mute Cass and nominated for the Oscar for Best Picture. Male supporting Troy Cortsoor is the first deaf actor to be nominated in nearly 35 years, and the first male deaf actor in film history to be nominated for an Oscar.

The Danish film "Escape" has created a new history by winning three nominations for Best Animated Feature, Best International Film and Best Documentary Feature at this year's Oscars in the form of an animated documentary.
