According to Supreme Court documents in Manhattan, New York, obtained by The Guardian, the legendary rock and folk singer "became friends with the plaintiffs and forged an emotional connection," calling her only "j.c." and lured and assaulted her for six weeks in April and May 1965.
J.c. Now 68 years old, he currently lives in Greenwich, Connecticut. She alleges in the lawsuit that Dylan, who was 23 or 24 at the time, "used his status as a musician to gain the trust of J.c. and took control of her, sexually torturing and abusing her."
According to the lawsuit, Dylan forged a "connection" with J. .c. to "alleviate her resistance to the subject of the sexual assault, which he did and offered the threat of drugs, alcohol and physical violence, leaving her with emotional trauma and psychological harm that continues to this day."
The lawsuit alleges that Dylan (real name Robert Alan Zimmerman) abused the plaintiffs on multiple occasions, some of which took place at the famous Chelsea Hotel in Manhattan, New York. According to the indictment, the emotional effects of abuse on J.c. included depression, humiliation, and anxiety, "which are of a permanent and lasting nature that prevent the plaintiff from participating in regular activities."
When CNN contacted J.c., J..c.'s attorney declined to say how she met with Dylan or elaborate on the nature of the sexual abuse allegations.
"The indictment speaks for itself. We will prove all allegations in court. Lawyer Daniel Isaacs said, "The lawsuit was brought after extensive investigation and thorough review, and there is no doubt that she was with him at the Chelsea Hotel at the time." ”
J.c. In the lawsuit, she said she had been and would continue to suffer "severe mental pain, anguish, humiliation and embarrassment, as well as financial losses" and sought compensation and punitive damages from Dylan.
The lawsuit was filed one day before the New York Child Victims Act expires on August 14, 2021. New York State's Child Victims Act, passed in 2019, provides a limited window for victims of childhood sexual abuse to file lawsuits against perpetrators, regardless of the year. Attorneys for .c. told CNN the lawsuit was filed under the bill, which gave her a "chance to seek compensation."
Dylan, 80, told the Guardian on Aug. 16 that "this allegation about what happened 56 years ago is not true and Dylan will be vigorously defended." ”
Just last month, a manhattan Supreme Court judge ruled in Dylan's favor in a lawsuit that had nothing to do with Dylan. The lawsuit involves Dylan selling his song catalog to Universal Music for $300 million last year.
Dylan was born in Duluth, Minnesota, and was originally named Robert Allen Zimmerman. On May 24 this year, Dylan turned 80 years old.
During his career, he sold more than 125 million records. His best-known songs include "Times Are Changing," "Like a Rolling Stone," and "Drifting in the Wind."
In 2008, Dylan received the Pulitzer Prize for "the extraordinary poetic power of his lyrical works, which had a profound impact on popular music and American culture." In 2016, he was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature for "creating new poetic expressions in the great American song tradition." (The Paper)
