The winter vacation is coming, and recently the Second People's Hospital of Hunan Province (Hunan Provincial Brain Hospital) pediatric outpatient clinic received more children with epilepsy than usual, some of them are long-term anti-epileptic drugs review, and some come to adjust the drugs. It is understood that the incidence of epilepsy is 3 to 5 ‰, and 70% of patients first have the disease in childhood. If children with epilepsy are not treated with standardized treatment, it does affect the development of brain function.
Qianqian (pseudonym), a girl who lives in Changsha, is now 9 years old and has always been healthy before, and half a year ago, there was no inducement for facial muscle twitching, which lasted about 6-10 seconds, and was not taken seriously afterwards. Recently, while watching TV at home, I suddenly had a angular twitch, accompanied by convulsions in my limbs, and then fell to the ground, unconscious. The parents sent Qianqian to the pediatric department of the Second People's Hospital of Hunan Province, and after a series of examinations, chief physician Xue Yinan, director of the Department of Pediatrics, informed the parents that the child was suffering from epilepsy.

Chief Physician Xue Yinan introduced: Most of the epilepsy patients are concentrated in childhood, among epilepsy patients, children and the elderly account for more, of which the first seizure, childhood children account for about 70%.
What causes epilepsy?
Chief physician Xue Yinan said that if the mother has fetal intrauterine hypoxia and brain damage during pregnancy or childbirth, it is likely to cause epilepsy in the child. Fetal congenital development or congenital metabolic abnormalities can also lead to epilepsy. In addition, intracranial infections, encephalitis, metabolic disorders, and cerebrovascular disease in adults can also lead to seizures of epilepsy.
According to the clinical diagnosis and treatment statistics of more than 1,000 patients with epilepsy, one-third of the patients are induced by long-term use of computers or tv, playing game consoles, playing iPads and mobile phones. There are many types of epilepsy, and this is photosensitive epilepsy.
Epilepsy is caused by abnormal firing of neurons. In the electronic information age, computers, televisions, game consoles and mobile phones are a kind of rapid fluorescent stimulation, which can cause abnormal excitement of nerve cells, which as a source of induction, can easily cause epileptic disease seizures for patients with brain dysplasia, cerebrovascular malformations, brain tumors and patients who have been traumatic to the brain.
The most typical epilepsy caused by watching TV is: in the 38th episode of the cartoon "Pokémon" broadcast on Japanese television in 1997, hundreds of children suffered from epilepsy due to a click explosion scene in Pikachu, and the continuous 5-second 12HZ red-blue alternating flashing screen in the picture was the culprit of this incident, known as the worst accident in the history of animation.

Director Xue Yinan reminded children with photosensitive epilepsy not to watch or watch less TV and video, no more than 30 minutes each time, when there is a rapid image flickering or image scrolling on the TV phosphor screen, it is necessary to deviate from the phosphor screen, or change the channel, preferably more than 3 meters away from the TV.
When the winter vacation comes, parents should make arrangements for children's holiday activities. To prevent the occurrence of photosensitive epilepsy, we must take care of mobile phones, computers and televisions.
