In 1729 (the seventh year of Yongzheng), the Jiangnan region was once again hit by floods, and the dams in Xuzhou, Peixian and other places were washed away, the waterways were in urgent need of dredging, and hundreds of people were trapped in the water. The roof leaked during the overnight rain, at this time the northwest war (Dzungar) was tight, and the front line was even defeated, and the Yongzheng Emperor was naturally very upset. This is not the end, in order to strengthen ideological rule, Yongzheng vigorously promoted the prison of writing, and throughout the entire court, there were very few people available.
In such a situation, who should Yongzheng send to Jiangnan to relieve the disaster? If you find an unreliable one, not only will it not be able to relieve the disaster, but maybe it will make the situation worse, so that the emperor will be scolded, just when Yongzheng was upset, Zhang Tingyu stood up. This person was the first assistant of the cabinet, Yongzheng's right-hand man in planning the great politics of the military state, as early as yongzheng had not yet ascended the throne, he had already taken a fancy to Zhang Tingyu and gave him high hopes, and when encountering an emergency, Yongzheng even let Zhang Tingyu enter the great interior, dictate his intentions, or give him a few words through the curtain, which shows the depth of trust in him.
Zhang Tingyu recommended to Yongzheng, but it was a person on death row, after hearing this person's name, Yongzheng thought about it, and then decided to believe Zhang Tingyu, it turned out that Zhang Tingyu did not choose the wrong person.
This person's name was Zhangjia Akton, a Manchurian Zhenglan Bannerman, as early as the Kangxi Dynasty, he relied on his own efforts to pass the examination and enter the court as an official, and the Kangxi Emperor also admired Akdun and promoted him one after another. The reason why Kangxi admired Actun so much was because after the Qing Dynasty entered the customs, he insisted that the Manchus could enter the dynasty as officials without passing the imperial examination, but Acton insisted on proving his strength by taking the examination, which shows that he was an upright and ambitious person.
Later, Kangxi died, Yongzheng ascended to the throne, he also reused Actun, in order to eliminate the problem of official corruption left over from the Kangxi period, Yongzheng sent Actun to Guangdong, and as soon as Akton went to Guangdong, he immediately impeached a bunch of corrupt officials, and his behavior naturally caused dissatisfaction among the Guangdong ministers, so they united and framed Acton, saying that he embezzled taxes and received gifts.
If you think about it, yongzheng sent Akton to investigate corruption, and as a result, Acton "guarded and stole from himself", how could Yongzheng not be angry? When he was arrested and imprisoned, after the "manipulation" of many ministers, Acton was sentenced to be beheaded and awaited the autumn trial.
In fact, after the fact, Yongzheng calmed down, and also felt that this matter was strange, Akton was afraid that he was framed, but there was no joke, the sentence was sentenced, how could it be easily changed? And it is not possible to move a provincial minister because of one Acton, so the matter is no longer discussed.
It was not until soon after that the flood broke out, Zhang Tingyu remembered Akton in the big prison, as intelligent as Zhang Tingyu, of course, could not damage Yongzheng's face, so he suggested: "Your Majesty please give Acton the opportunity to atone for his sins." In this way, Yongzheng was given a step down, and Yongzheng also immediately asked Actun to go to the disaster area to "wear the effect of sin".
Under the efforts of Acton, the disaster situation was quickly controlled, and his "sins" were of course written off, and later when Qianlong ascended to the throne, Actun was also reused, and the officials were Shangshu of bingbu, Shangshu of Rebbe, prince Taibao, and assistant university scholars, and he also had a very famous son, Zhang Jia Agui, who led troops to battle many times and made great achievements.
