On January 18, 2022, the Itté Nuttówer generalis officially announced the world ranking list for the third edition of the new year. As a result of the first WTT race in Düsseldorf, Germany, last week, a small number of athletes saved up new points, so the world rankings, which lasted for more than a month, finally had a new difference.
However, because the core main players of the table tennis powerhouses such as China, Japan, South Korea, Germany and Switzerland have not participated in the German competition, so everyone's ranking remains unchanged, among which Fan Zhendong, Chen Meng, Wang Manyu / Sun Yingsha continue to rank first in the men's singles, women's singles, women's doubles, Mizutani Hayabusa / Ito Mishimaso mixed doubles first, Fark / Carlsson men's doubles first: look forward to the showdown between the top Chinese and foreign masters as soon as possible!
See below for details.
1. Singles
In terms of singles, there has been no change in the top ten athletes in men's and women's singles – to be precise, the top 40 in the men's singles world rankings and the top 34 players in the women's singles world rankings have not changed, because these people almost do not participate in the German competition, like the Austrian veteran Gardos, although he participated in and won the men's singles championship, but the points earned are still not enough, so the ranking has not changed.
According to the foundation accumulated before, the national table tennis players Fan Zhendong, Ma Long and Xu Xin, who did not participate in the German competition, are still the top 3 athletes in the men's singles world ranking, Chen Meng and Sun Yingsha are in the top 2, while Brazil's Hugo and Japan's Ito Mimachi are closely following the national table tennis, ranking 4th in men's singles and 3rd in women's singles, respectively.
In addition to the above athletes, the top ten players in the men's singles are: Zhang Benzhihe, Lin Yunru, Lin Gaoyuan, Liang Jingkun, Ocharov, Boer, Wang Chuqin ranked 12th; the top ten in the women's singles were: Wang Yidi, Ding Ning, Ishikawa Jiachun, Zheng Yijing, Feng Tianwei, Zhu Yuling, Liu Shiwen ranked 11th, and Chen Xingtong ranked 13th.
The athletes who improved the most through the German race were Duda (from 43rd to 41st) and Shan Xiaona (from 38th to 35th). Women's singles champion Barazova rose from 52nd to 48th, and 58-year-old veteran Ni Xialian remained in 40th place because she was out early.
2. Doubles
In terms of doubles, as mentioned before, China, Japan and Switzerland are three points in the world, just like the scene of the national table tennis team fighting with the Japanese team and the Swedish team decades ago, and this ranking is indeed in line with the current table tennis pattern - the comprehensive strength of the Japanese team has been very strong, and the Olympic Games have also defeated the national table tennis to win the mixed doubles gold medal; the Swede is also reviving, winning 1 gold and 2 silver in two consecutive World Table Tennis Championships.
At present, the mixed doubles combination with the highest ranking in the national table tennis is the new champion Wang Chuqin / Sun Yingsha of the Houston World Table Tennis Championships, but they are more disadvantaged in points because they missed the Tokyo Olympic Games, and now they are only 5th in the world; and the highest-ranked men's doubles combination is the third runner-up Liang Jingkun / Lin Gaoyuan of the Houston World Table Tennis Championships, who is currently the 4th in the world.
On January 19, the national table tennis team will participate in the WTT Macau Tournament, but there are no points to be earned; and the main korean and Japanese players are also participating in or preparing to participate in their own national championships, and have no time to take care of international competitions. Coupled with the fact that the Winter Olympics will be held in February, it is likely that there will be no more formal competition arrangements in table tennis, so we may have to wait a long time to see the big reshuffle of the world rankings.
Again, the world rankings do not represent the strength of athletes, but they can indeed have a great impact on the lottery grouping of the competition, we can not take it too seriously, nor can we take it seriously: cheer for the Chinese team athletes! I look forward to everyone to hit more points and win better signings for the next competition!
