Two days ago, Michelin unveiled a new generation of Road 6 tires, bringing several new features designed to improve the wet grip and longevity of motorcycles. The new tires cover sports cars, off-road, sports and travel, as well as the Road 6 GT tire line for larger and heavier touring motorcycles. The new generation of Road 6 tires is based on the Road 5 and leverages two decades of experience and innovation to bring the following advantages.
Stronger grip in wetlands:
Michelin Road 6 tires improve grip by more than 15 percent, thanks to the new silica tread compound and better drainage of the new tread pattern.
Longer lifespan:
Compared to the previous-generation Road 5, the Road 6 tires have a 10% longer tread life.
New tread design:
The porosity is optimized to provide better grip in wet and dry conditions without compromising cornering performance, so riders can get consistent and accurate feedback from the tire's reaction. X-Sipe technology, combined with Water Evergrip technology, ensures that tires have consistent grip throughout conditions. And it maintains grip even when tires wear out, and there are new grooves and knife groove tread corners with longer edges that make it easy to penetrate the water film in the wet and maintain road grip.
New tire compounds:
Silica Rain Technology improves tire grip in cold conditions and wet roads, improving continuity and tread life, and the new feature of the Road 6 tire series is that for the first time Michelin 2CT+ technology is applied to the front tires, allowing riders to be more stable when entering corners.
New tire construction:
The Michelin Road 6's tires feature Amplified Density technology, a high-density, high-rigidity design that provides excellent feedback and handling for riders, and aramid tread that resists high-speed centrifugal growth, reduces weight and provides stability.
Aesthetic Enhancement:
Michelin Premium Touch technology is used in sidewall design, a feature derived from ultra-high-performance tires used in sports cars. This unique technique uses micro geometry to create textures on the sidewalls, which in turn enables it to adjust contrast and create shades of gray to highlight tire markings and provide a more aesthetically pleasing finish.
The Road 6 series includes: 6 front and 8 rear sizes, while the GT tire series has 1 front size and 3 rear size sizes.
