Alison Fisher is awarded the MBE and is the "Duchess of Destruction" of billiards

On New Year's Eve 2022, the British government released the New Year's Honor Roll, and Alison Fisher, one of the greatest legends in women's billiards, known as "The Duchess of Doom", was awarded the Order of the British Empire (MBE). Fisher is the third female snooker player to be awarded mbe after Vera Selby and Renee Evans.

Allison Fisher (24 February 1968- ) was born in the United Kingdom in 1968. Fisher began playing snooker at the age of 7, won the British women's snooker championship at the age of 15, and won the women's snooker World Championship for the first time at the age of 17. Fisher has since won a total of seven women's snooker world championships (1985, 1986, 1988, 1989, 1991, 1993, 1994), and Fisher was the first player to break the hundred at the Women's Snooker World Championship (Singles 103, 1991 Women's World Championships).

(After Fisher won the 1985 World Championships, he hung a bunch of trophies.) )

While dominating the women's snooker world, Fisher also tried to enter the professional snooker tour dominated by men's players. After many unsuccessful efforts, in 1991, the WBASA World Snooker opened the professional threshold, and more than 500 players poured into the professional tournament, and Fisher was one of them. In the second round of the Dubai Classic Qualifying Round of the first ranking event of the season (1991/92), which took many rounds before qualifying for the top 64, 48 or 32, she defeated Sukhbir Grewal 5-4 to become the first female player to win on the professional stage. 1991 was an important year for Fisher, not just professional qualifications. Fisher won the Women's Snooker World Championship for the fifth time in 1991; in 1991, Fisher was the only female player to be invited to the London Masters (note not the Masters[2]), and in 1991, Fisher competed in the World Masters, known as the Snooker Olympics organized by Hearn, winning the women's doubles title and the mixed doubles title (then with Davis).

However, Fisher in the professional snooker arena was not smooth, never scored the main game, and was a bit disheartened. In 1994, Fisher was invited to represent the European team in the Mosconi Cup. American billiards opened another door for Fisher. In 1995, Fisher began to compete in the professional tournament of the WPBA Women's Professional Billiards League. Then for the other players, Fisher was a devastating presence, winning the women's 9-ball world championship for three consecutive years from 1996 to 1998, ranking first in the world for more than a decade, and nearly 80 billiards championships, large and small. In 2009, Fisher was inducted into the Billiards Council's Hall of Fame. Fisher is also a Hall of Famer member of the WPBA women's snooker.

Fisher, who is 53 years old, has not yet retired, and she is still fighting. She is a beautiful legend.
