Beautiful name, beautiful flower - Yingshan red

There is a song that has resounded throughout the mountains and rivers of China for many years, and it is still sung by people. Many movies, TV series and dramas with new Chinese themes have their place. Even the film and television work of the same name has been filmed. This flower is Yingshan red. Today, we will talk about Yingshan Hong.

When we say Yingshan Red, we generally refer to the splendid cuckoo. It belongs to the rhododendron family, rhododendron genus, and semi-evergreen shrubs of the subgenus Yingshan line. Prefers cool, humid and sunny environments. Hardy, heat-afraid, semi-shady, not tolerant of long-term strong light exposure. The growth temperature is 15 ~ 28 °C, and the winter can tolerate -8 °C low temperature. It grows at an altitude of about 1700 m in cool, rainy areas (Wawushan area of Sichuan Province), and its flowering period at suitable altitudes is generally from mid-April to mid-May. The limited experience of small-scale practical transplantation that Xiaobian began in 2016 shows that the transplantation up to an altitude of about 2200m, its growth is almost stagnant, but it can successfully overwinter. Transplanted down to an altitude of about 500m, its growth rate is accelerated, and the flowering period is advanced to the beginning of April, that is, the first flowering, but the summer situation needs to be further observed.

If it is transplanted to Yingshan Red, it is recommended to refer to the following planting and maintenance management measures. Yingshan red prefers acidic soil, which requires looseness, good drainage, and rich in humus. 4 parts of humus soil, 2 parts of old pot soil, 1 part of sand soil, fire soil and sawdust, add an appropriate amount of cake fertilizer and mix well, and pile up for half a month to use. When the seedlings are potted, the seedlings are more soily, less harmful to the root system, the overly long roots are appropriately shortened, and the larger plants should be pruned on the upper branches. First, cover the drainage hole at the bottom of the pot with broken tiles in the pot, lay a layer of coarse-grained soil as a drainage layer, and after filling part of the culture soil in the center, put the plants into the pot to straighten and add soil compaction. The planting depth is the same as the depth at which the original seedling was unearthed. Water thoroughly. Watering is both afraid of drying and waterlogging. From the end of November to the beginning of February, most of the open-ground potted Yingshan red is dormant or semi-dormant, depending on the wet and dry condition of the potting soil. In late February, the temperature rises, the flower buds and leaf buds germinate, and the number of watering is appropriately increased. March to June is the growth period of new shoots, the water demand increases, and the number of watering should be increased as appropriate. From July to September, the temperature is high and watering is required every day. After October, the amount of watering can be reduced. Fertilization does not like large fertilizer, and it is necessary to apply thin fertilizer frequently. The base fertilizer is made of long-lasting fertilizers, such as organic fertilizers such as cake fertilizer, bone meal and dry stable ripe fertilizer, which are replaced in pots or buried in pot soil in winter. Topdressing with fast-acting fertilizers, such as human manure organic fertilizers or nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium fertilizers, spring to flowering, apply phosphorus and potassium fertilizer 1-2 times a month, stop fertilizing when flowering. After the autumn cool, apply 1-2 times of phosphate fertilizer as the main liquid fertilizer, and stop topdressing after winter.

As a landscaping landscape planting, when flowering is romantic, purple and red, it can increase the natural landscape effect of the garden. It can also be planted next to the rocks, poolside, and lawn edges to add to the garden atmosphere. Potted plants are placed in hotels, apartments and public places, which are dazzling.

Last year, I transplanted several Yingshan red trees from the Wawushan area of Sichuan (about 1700m above sea level) to the Xiling Snow Mountain area of Chengdu (about 2200m above sea level), and then transplanted them to Dayi County of Chengdu (about 500m above sea level) to get the above shallow planting experience. In the later stage, it will be intensively observed to better understand the growth habits of Yingshan red at different altitudes.

The above picture is of yingshan red that I transplanted to an altitude of about 500 meters, and I saw the first flowers in early April this year. The décor is a little lighter than what we saw in the Wawu Mountain area last year.
