News on May 18, do you still remember Tesla's straight-line racing promotional video when the Cybertruck pickup truck was delivered? In the video, the electric pickup truck beats the legendary Porsche 911 in a quarter-mile acceleration race, and the victory is achieved while towing another Porsche 911.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk said at the press conference: "The Cybertruck dragged the Porsche 911 to complete the quarter-mile acceleration race faster than the unloaded Porsche 911!" ”

A few months later, MotorTrend finally decided to replicate the test, but the results were a shocking surprise.

Tests have shown that the Cybertruck towing a Porsche 911 cannot win against any version of the 911 at all, and even the slowest 911 is faster than it, and it is reported that the media conducted a total of six quarter-mile straight acceleration races, and the Porsche 911 Carrera T won them all.

In fact, not long after Tesla released the promotional video, some YouTube bloggers discovered that the Tesla promotional video used was actually an eighth-mile straight track, but it was not clearly marked, and Tesla later admitted this.

In order to fully restore the facts, MotorTrend also conducted several rounds of eighth-mile testing and found that the Cybertruck could occasionally win against the unladen 911, however, comparing the fastest results of the two cars, the final winner was still the Porsche 911.

It should be pointed out that in straight-line acceleration races, the standard distance discussed is generally a quarter mile, and Tesla chose an eighth-mile without publicly stating it, most likely because it knows that the Cybertruck has no chance of winning in a quarter-mile acceleration.

But then again, even though the 911 can't outrun the 911, it doesn't negate the Cybertruck's performance, and its high-performance version has a 0-60 mph (96 km/h) acceleration capability in 2.6 seconds, which is the best in the world.
