At the 2024 International Annual Meeting on Heart Failure, scientists shared the latest research results: the practice of yoga in patients with heart failure can clearly improve several health indicators, which is worth learning.

The study compared patients who relied solely on medication to those who also practiced yoga showed stronger heart function and better mobility.

A total of 85 patients with heart failure who were taking conventional medication recommended by guidelines after cardiac surgery were randomly divided into two groups, one receiving yoga training at the same time and the other not receiving it. Yoga training includes breath regulation, meditation, and relaxation techniques.

During a one-year follow-up follow-up, patients who were regularly checked for heart function by echocardiography showed significant improvements in heart structure and function, especially in the heart's ability to pump blood and perform daily activities, such as walking and stair climbing.

This study demonstrates the effectiveness and benefits of yoga as an adjunct to heart failure treatment. The researchers suggest that there is a clear benefit of adding yoga to improve quality of life and heart health while doctors and patients follow routine treatments.

Yoga also showed significant improvement and outperformed other forms of exercise in the brain health of cancer survivors recovering from "brain fog" or "chemo brain" after chemotherapy. Patients with cancer diseases include breast, cervical, colorectal, uterine, lung, ovarian, prostate, blood, and skin cancers.
