8 ships of 1.5 billion yuan! This "new shipyard" won the first order from a European shipowner in China

In just over a month, it has won a total of 18 new ships from three overseas shipowners, with orders of more than 2.6 billion yuan. Today, Xinjiangzhou Shipbuilding Heavy Industry, which has just ushered in its first anniversary, has won the first order for methanol dual-fuel ships and officially entered the new energy ship market.

For the first time, shipowners placed orders in China, and Xinjiangzhou Shipbuilding Heavy Industry Co., Ltd. received orders for 8 methanol dual-fuel carriers

On April 23, Jiangxi Xinjiang Shipbuilding Industry Co., Ltd. reached a long-term strategic cooperation with Danish shipowner M.H. SIMONSEN APS in Xiachao Lake, Ruichang City, and successfully undertook the construction project of 8 6,800-ton duplex stainless steel electric propulsion methanol dual-fuel chemical tankers, with a total order value of 1.5 billion yuan.

The signing of the shipbuilding project has created five firsts in the shipbuilding industry in Jiangxi Province: the largest single ship construction export order, the first methanol dual-fuel ship order, the largest duplex stainless steel shipbuilding base, the first electric propulsion international cargo ship, and the first international mainstream classification society DNV/BV/ABS/LR/CCS grand slam shipyard.

The type of ship built in this cooperation is an IMO II chemical tanker, equipped with 14 duplex stainless steel cargo holds, which has wide cargo loading, strong navigation, green environmental protection, less manning, intelligent operation, Vibration and noise reduction: three synchronous generator sets with DC power distribution system, an electric propulsion unit equipped with two DC low-speed permanent magnet (PM) motors to drive a fixed-pitch propeller, a pair of methanol fuel tanks to provide methanol fuel for the generator, and a new independent full-ship energy storage unit to ensure safe navigation in the event of a power loss of the whole ship. The design concept of this ship applies the propulsion mode of DC power distribution and low-speed permanent magnet motor directly driven high-efficiency fixed-pitch propeller to small and medium-sized stainless steel chemical tankers, which has achieved a new breakthrough for the application scenarios of new energy on ships. The cooperative design company of the ship type is Shanghai Hanshun.

This project is the first time that SIMONSEN has placed an order for a ship in China since its establishment nearly 100 years ago. Founded in 1931 by founder Martin Hjorth Simonsen, SIMONSEN is a family-owned shipping company with all ships under its own management. The shipowner said that it will continue to optimize the fleet strategy and increase the number of self-managed ships to meet the transportation needs of the industry. After the first visit to Xinjiangzhou Shipbuilding Heavy Industry Co., Ltd., the on-site inspection of the equipment and facilities of the shipyard, the discussion and exchange of construction technology and design concepts, the whole indoor production process of Xinjiang Shipbuilding Heavy Industry, the cognitive ability of the management of shipbuilding, and the influence of shareholders in the industry are not available to other shipyards of the same type, and it is the best choice for cooperative ship construction projects. Thirteen days after the first visit, the construction contract was successfully signed with Xinjiangzhou Shipbuilding Heavy Industry.

It used to be the largest shipyard in Jiangxi Province, and Xinjiang Shipbuilding Heavy Industry received more than 2.6 billion orders in half a year

It is understood that Jiangxi Xinjiang Shipbuilding Industry Co., Ltd. was established on March 31, 2023 with a registered capital of 50 million yuan.

Jiangxi Jiangzhou United Shipbuilding Co., Ltd., the predecessor of Xinjiang Shipbuilding Heavy Industry, was restructured from Jiangzhou Shipyard (6214 Factory), an old state-owned factory established in 1969. The state-owned Jiangzhou Shipyard is one of the key projects of the national third-line construction in the 70s of the last century, and is the largest shipbuilding enterprise in Jiangxi, with more than 7,000 employees at its peak.

Xinjiang Shipbuilding Heavy Industry Co., Ltd. focuses on the small and medium-sized ship market, focusing on the new business of liquefied ships, feeder container bulk carriers and multi-purpose heavy crane ships. The main investors of Xinjiangzhou Shipbuilding Heavy Industry Co., Ltd. are Qinshi Group Co., Ltd. and Jiangsu Yangchuan Investment and Development Co., Ltd. Qinshi Group Co., Ltd. is the holding parent company of Tianhai Fusion Defense Equipment Technology Co., Ltd., a listed company, and Jiangsu Yangchuan Investment and Development Co., Ltd. is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Yangzijiang Shipbuilding Group.

On November 30, 2023, the brand-new Xinjiangzhou Shipbuilding Heavy Industry Co., Ltd. held a grand groundbreaking ceremony, announcing the beginning of a new era of shipbuilding with full order-taking. At the ceremony, Xinjiangzhou Shipbuilding Heavy Industry Co., Ltd. undertook orders for 10 new ships, including Yangzijiang Financial Holding 2+2 orders for 8,300-ton shallow draft sea-river intermodal international route bulk carriers, Alita (Shanghai) International Shipping Co., Ltd.'s 2+2 13,800-ton duplex stainless steel chemical tankers and Jiangxi Donggang Shipping Co., Ltd.'s two orders for 3,940-ton stainless steel chemical tankers.

ON MARCH 19 THIS YEAR, NEW JIANGZHOU SHIPBUILDING HEAVY INDUSTRY RECEIVED AN ORDER FOR FOUR 135-METER DUPLEX STAINLESS STEEL CHEMICAL TANKERS FROM MERCURIUS SHIPBUILDING B.V, A DUTCH SHIPOWNER, WHICH IS NOT ONLY THE FIRST OVERSEAS ORDER SINCE THE ESTABLISHMENT OF NEW JIANGZHOU SHIPBUILDING HEAVY INDUSTRY, BUT ALSO MARKS THE SHIPYARD'S RETURN TO THE EUROPEAN HIGH-END CHEMICAL TANKER MARKET.

On March 31, coinciding with the first anniversary of its establishment, Xinjiangzhou Shipbuilding Heavy Industry Co., Ltd. signed a contract with German shipowner Candler Schiffahrt for the construction of six 12,000-ton multi-purpose vessels. The project is also the first time Candler Schiffahrt has built a new ship in China.

Talking about the latest orders, Xinjiangzhou Shipbuilding Industry pointed out that the company adheres to the business policy of "based on liquid cargo, deep cultivation of multi-purpose, expansion of new energy and small offshore engineering", adheres to the long-term goal of "building specialized and refined ships, and doing special and excellent shipyards", relying on the strength background of the two major shareholders, it has won the favor of mainstream shipowners in Europe, and returned to the European stage with a strong return trend. The ship meets the low carbon emission requirements of the International Maritime Organization, and is equipped with a methanol dual-fuel system, DC busbar, energy consumption control, energy storage battery and energy efficiency management system, etc., achieving new breakthroughs in the application of many green technologies in real ships.

According to the data, Xinjiang Shipbuilding Heavy Industry currently holds orders for more than 20 international high-end ship construction projects, with a total amount of more than 2.6 billion, including different ship types such as chemical tankers, multi-purpose heavy crane ships, and new energy ships.
