Beginning in 1930, Song Shilun began to serve as the political commissar of the second column in southeast Hunan Huang Jun, the principal of the school's 4th branch, he was talented, also received an orthodox military education, and joined the Communist Party very early, is a rare highly educated intellectual in the party, so he has been entrusted with important tasks.
After arriving in northern Shaanxi, he was appointed as the chief of the Operations Section of the 15th Army Corps of the Red Army, and later led his troops to participate in the Eastern Expedition and the Western Expedition and the Battle of Mountain Castle, making immortal contributions during the agrarian revolution.
After the outbreak of the War of Resistance Against Japan, Song Shilun actively led his troops to open up anti-Japanese base areas, and he served as the commander of the Jichareliao Military Region, the commander of the fourth column of the Eighth Route Army and the commander of the 12th detachment.
In 1940, Song Shilun arrived in Yan'an, and successively entered the Marxist-Leninist Institute and the Party School of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China to study, during this period he held almost all the positions of political commissar, responsible for ideological education and the propaganda of Marxist-Leninist thought within the party, Song Shilun had a very high prestige in the party, and also followed Marshal Chen Yi to work in the Shandong base area.
After the end of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, Song Shilun went north and became the head of the CCP Executive Division of the Beijing Military Mediation Department, followed Ye Jianying to negotiate with the Kuomintang military representatives, argued with reason at the negotiation table, exposed the Kuomintang's conspiracy of fake peace and real civil war, and was almost killed by Kuomintang agents.
